BJP alleges film "Kedarnath" promoting love jihad, demands ban

A senior BJP leader Saturday demanded a ban on "Kedarnath", an upcoming film set against the backdrop of a catastrophic deluge that hit the Himalayan shrine in 2013, alleging that it hurts the sentiments of Hindus and promotes love jihad. Ajendra Ajay, who is part of the state BJP's media relations team, wrote to Central Board of Film Certification Chairman Prasoon Joshi that despite being set against the backdrop of one of the worst human tragedies, the film directed by Abhishek Kapoor makes fun of Hindu sentiments. Mamata welcomes cine lovers to Kolkata for 8-day film fest

Hours before the inauguration of the 24th Kolkata International Film Festival on Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in a tweet, welcomed cinema lovers to the eight-day extravaganza - the theme country for which has been selected as Australia this year. More than 300 films, including shorts and documentaries, will be screened in 16 theatres across the city and Howrah over the next week. A film directory chronicling the major films made during the period of 1917-2017 will be published at the fest to mark 100 years of Bengali cinema. Fourteen timeless Bengali classics have also been selected by the jury for screening at the eight-day event. Actor Anna Paquin has joined the cast of the fifth and final season of "The Affair". Paquin will play the adult version of Joanie Lockhart, the daughter of Alison and Cole, in the Showtime drama, reported Variety. The casting brings Paquin back into the cable world, as she previously starred in the HBO series "True Blood". 'Westworld' location at Paramount Ranch burns down in California wildfires

The Western Town at Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills, California, that served as a filming location to popular series "Westworld", has burned down due to the Woolsey wildfire. The news was shared by the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area on Twitter. "Westworld" used the Western town set to shoot its Main Street scenes. The HBO series is also shot at the Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita and in Utah and other locations, reported Variety. "Paramount Ranch was one of the locations used during seasons one and two of Westworld, in addition to the primary location at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita. Westworld is not currently in production, and as the area has been evacuated, we do not yet know the extent of the damage to any structures remaining there. Comedian Kevin Hart is executive producing series "Don't Call It a Comeback" that is currently in development at ABC. The single-camera family comedy hails from writer and executive producer Courtney Lilly, reported Variety. AIADMK attacks Rajini for remarks on protests against 'Sarkar'

The AIADMK hit out at Tamil superstar Rajinikanth Saturday for slamming its protests against certain scenes in the Vijay-starrer "Sarkar", saying a mere censor certification would not justify contentious scenes. As the controversy was around the government's freebies schemes, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu equated those to providing reservation benefits to the deprived classes.
