'13 Reasons Why' star Katherine Langford joins 'Avengers 4'

"13 Reasons Why" breakout Katherine Langford has boarded the cast of upcoming "Avengers 4" in an unspecified role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 22-year-old actor has shot her scenes for the film but the details of her character have not been revealed yet. Marvel Studios has also not confirmed the actor's casting. Langford is currently awaiting the premiere of Netflix's "Cursed" series, created by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler. The series is a fresh take on the Arthurian legend, and follows teenager Nimue, who joins forces with mercenary Arthur on a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. It will come on Netflix in 2019. "Avengers 4" will release worldwide on May 3 next year.

Rapper Kaalan Walker faces multiple sexual assault charges

"Kings" actor and rapper Kaalan Walker has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault. Walker, who recently starred alongside Halle Berry and Daniel Craig in the 2017 drama, was first arrested in Van Nuys last month after police connected him to the chain of sexual assaults, according to a news release from Los Angeles Police Department. The actor, 23, allegedly began contacting aspiring models through the internet in 2016 and promised them opportunities for professional work, reported People magazine. Walker's charges include five counts of forcible rape, three counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, and one count of forcible oral copulation, according to court documents obtained by the Los Angeles Times. Walker is also being held on a USD 1,080,000 bail, and his next court date is scheduled for November 14. Los Angeles Police are currently investigating the case and whether there are any other alleged victims.

Star Wars' Boba Fett spin-off no longer in works

'Star Wars' spin-ff on Boba Fett is not happening. Boba Fett debuted in 1980's "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" and re-appeared in 1983's "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" as a mercenary for the Galactic Empire. Actor Jeremy Bulloch played the character in the two movies and Jason Wingreen provided Boba Fett's voice. Last year in May, news emerged that Disney and Lucasfilm had been developing a "Star Wars" standalone movie centered on the bounty hunter Boba Fett from "Logan" director James Mangold. The project was never officially announced. The decision comes after last "Star Wars" spin-off, "Solo", did not work well at the box-office. The first anthology film was 2016's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story".

'Last Christmas' to arrive on Nov 15 next year

Universal Pictures has announced the release date of the upcoming romantic comedy 'Last Christmas'.According to Deadline, the film will come out on November 15, 2019. The Paul Feig-directed flick stars Emilia Clarke of 'Game of Thrones' and Henry Golding of 'Crazy Rich Asians'. Apart from them, the cast also includes 'Beauty and the Beast' actor Emma Thompson.Inspired by the 1984 Wham! holiday classic, the movie will feature unreleased music from the late legendary Grammy-winning artist, George Michael.'Last Christmas' is produced by Feig and Jessie Henderson for his Feigco Entertainment, by BAFTA winner David Livingstone for Calamity Films, and Thompson.

Manipuri filmmaker urges GIFF to screen movies in NE states

Manipur filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar has suggested that the movies being screened at the ongoing Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF) are shown in other north eastern states. Altogether 108 films, including 52 foreign movies, are being screened in the festival. It also includes Bengali, Malayalam, Punjabi, Marathi, Hindi, Assamese and other regional films. "GIFF is a very good initiative to promote a film culture in the region and it would be of immense help if it screens its films in other north eastern states so that more people will get to see good films," Kumar told PTI. "Our cinema is in Kerala, Karnataka, Bengal, Assam and other states. This is real Indian cinema and not Bollywood," the national award winning film maker said. Manipur has many independent filmmakers, but government support is lacking. For that reason, films are made on very low budgets, he said.
