Harley Quinn spin-off gets February 7, 2020 release date

Warner Bros has given a release date to upcoming Harley Quinn spin-off, "Birds of Prey". According to Variety, the film, which will be helmed by Cathy Yan, will open in the theatres on February 7, 2020. Actor Margot Robbie is all set to reprise her "Suicide Squad" role of Harley Quinn. A recent report had claimed that actors Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jurnee Smolett-Bell and Janelle Monae are in the running for the role of Black Canary, while Margaret Qualley, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Cristin Milioti are testing for Huntress. The project will be produced by Sue Kroll, Robbie and Brian Unkeless. Robbie had earlier said that "Birds of Prey" will start shooting next January and will be made with a "much smaller budget" for a DC movie. The 28-year-old actor is attached to play Quinn in three more projects, that she will topline.

Zoe Kravitz to star in 'High Fidelity' series

Actor Zoe Kravitz has been cast as the lead in TV series "High Fidelity". The series is an official adaptation of Nick Hornby's novel of the same name but reimagines the story from the female perspective, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Created by Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka, the show will run for 10 episodes on Disney's upcoming streaming service. Kravitz, 29, who will also executive produce the project, will play the ultimate music fan, a record store owner who is obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists. The novel was previously adapted into a movie that starred John Cusack in 2000. It also featured Lisa Bonet, Kravitz's mother. Kravitz, best known for "Mad Max: Fury Road" and HBO series "Big Little Lies", is currently awaiting the release of "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald".

Actor Mel Gibson is all set to co-write and direct the remake of the violent and influential film, 'Wild Bunch'.Bryan Bagby will co-write the script with Gibson, who will also executive produce the movie, confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.The original 1969 movie was directed by action and macho-fueled movie maker, Sam Peckinpah.
