Aayush Sharma says his debut film "Loveyatri" is a celebration of love and culture and it was painful to do away with the original title as the makers did not want to court any controversy. In an interview with PTI, Aayush opened up about the title row to how he landed in Bollywood as an actor, courtesy Khan brothers - Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) was irked by the title "Loveratri", which according to them was distorting the meaning of Hindu festival, Navratri. Later, a Bihar court had ordered an FIR to be lodged against Salman, saying the title hurts religious sentiments and promotes vulgarity. For Aayush, it was disheartening that the title was changed as he had lived with it for the longest time. "Our intention was very clear. We wanted a film that connects with most people. There was unnecessary conversation and objection happening over it," the newcomer told PTI. The actor said it was difficult for him to understand the reason behind the controversy .

Jamie Foxx will act alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Netflix's upcoming sci-fi film. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the feature will be directed by filmmaker duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman from a script by Mattson Tomlin. The two are best known for directing the third and fourth instalments of "Paranormal Activity" series as well as documentary "Catfish". The film has been described as a "heightened sci-fi action thriller" set in Portland which is ridden with a drug that gives people a range of superpowers. Gordon-Levitt will play a cop whose job is to get the drug off the street, but realises that the only way to fight the users is to take the drug himself. The untitled film starts production next month in New Orleans.
"Venom" actor Riz Ahmed has revealed he was so eager to feature in a Star Wars film that he sent 14 audition videos to director Gareth Edwards for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story". During an appearance on the Jonathan Ross show, the 35-year-old actor, who played Bodhi Rook in Edwards' 2016 film, said he went "overboard" in his bid to secure the part. "I went a bit overboard, a bit over the top, I got a bit obsessive about my work. They were like, 'Could you read for this scene?' "It's funny that I related to her because I think when outside people, what they think of me as is not this character. I smile a lot, I laugh a lot, and in this movie, we really don't do that very much at all," Fanning told TheWrap. "I felt so connected to Violet. Critically acclaimed filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi, who was suffering from kidney ailment, passed away early Sunday morning at a hospital here. She was 64. Lajmi was the daughter of painter Lalita Lajmi and niece of legendary filmmaker Guru Dutt. Her brother, Dev Lajmi confirmed the news of her death. "She passed away at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital at 4.30 am. She was suffering from chronic kidney disease and liver failure. She was on dialysis. She has been in and out of the hospital for three years," Dev told PTI. He said the last rites of the director will be possibly conducted today. Lajmi debuted as an assistant director under renowned film director Shyam Benegal, who was also her uncle.
