Shooting of Bengali soaps stalled for the third day
Shooting of Bengali TV soaps was stalled for the third day in the city today due to a ceasework by the Atists Forum demanding regularisation of pay and talks between it and the Welfare Association of Television Producers failed. Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee told reporters that the Artists' Forum did not wish to disrupt shooting schedules of TV soaps but the July 8 agreement between the body and the Television Producers' body should be respected and artists should be paid regularly. While the agreement between producers and forum had stipulated that the artists should get their salaries within the 15th day of the next month, many producers did not honour it and did nor arrange the payment overdue to the artists, Chatterjee said. He said in the given situation it was not possible to resume work unless the producers paid the overdue wages on time. Actor Kalki Koechlin will be the showstopper for designer Gaurav Katta's maiden show at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018. The designer will be presenting his collection "Souvenirs of British India" on the final day of the fashion extravaganza, which runs from August 22 to 26. The collection narrates an elegant story of Independence and empowerment with the gold and silver embellishments, tinselled silk, sables and other accessories. It is inspired by the classical murals and roof paintings in Rajasthan from the British era. Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Shaikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah said that India will get to host a third Asian Games if the country shows interest. India hosted the first ever Asian Games in New Delhi in 1951 and then again in the same city in 1982. Since then, Commonwealth Games in 2010, remains the only multi-sport event that India has hosted. Actor-rapper O'Shea Jackson Jr has been roped in Warner Bros drama "Just Mercy". According to Variety, details about Jackson Jr's role are unknown at the time. Directed by Destin Cretton, the film also stars Jordan and Brie Larson. Cretton will direct from script that he co-wrote with Andrew Lanham. Gil Netter and Asher Goldstein will also produce with Jordan. Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji is set to helm a project centred on 'Gumnami Baba', an ascetic spotted in Uttar Pradesh in the 1970s who many believed was Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in disguise. The director, who received acclaim for his last outing 'Uma', told PTI that he had been toying with the idea ever since he read a newspaper article on the ascetic in 2016.
