Govt not planning law to regulate cinema, IPL cricket: Goyal
The government is not planning any law to regulate either cinema and television industries or IPL cricket, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal informed the Rajya Sabha today. He further said that the Revenue Intelligence authorities had not made any assessment regarding flow of unaccounted money into entertainment industry, including cinema production and distribution. However, Goyal said that investigation into the matters regarding tax evasion and unaccounted black money is an ongoing exercise and appropriate action are taken under the Income Tax Act. "There is no proposal as of now to bring out any new legislation to regulate cinema and television industries as well as IPL cricket," Goyal said. Chekov's 'The Marriage Proposal' adapted in Punjabi
A Punjabi adaptation of Russian playwright Anton Chekov's 19th century play "A Marriage Proposal" will be staged here. Adapted by Gurgaon-based theatre group Merry Go Round, the play "The Proposal", directed by Saurav Padhi, will be performed at the LTG Auditorium here on July 28. Organisers said the Punjabi version will recreate Chekov's dialogue-based action and situational humour, while bringing in new characters to introduce regional nuances. Written in 18881889, the original play was first performed in 1890, and since then has been adapted in different languages including English, Greek and Hindi. 'Shazam!' director says DC film will avoid 'Captain Marvel' name
Director David Sandberg has said the upcoming superhero film "Shazam!" will not have references to Captain Marvel name. Sandberg's film is based on the DC superhero Shazam, which was initially in the comics called Captain Marvel. However, the DC comics officially changed his name to Shazam after Marvel trademarked the title for its own superhero back in the 60s. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sandberg said the film, featuring Zachary Levi as the title hero, will avoid using the DC hero's former name but the movie will "have a bit of fun" with the character's history. "Let's just say we're going to have a bit of fun with that in the movie. But he's basically known as Shazam, which makes sense because of the confusion," Sandberg said.
