The famous Geronimo musical will make its India debut next month with the national capital playing host to eight shows of the Broadway-style theatrical. Reporter and adventurer hero Geronimo Stilton lives in Mouseville and is the editor of the Rodent's Gazette and the Geronimo Stilton Live performances will be based on the bestselling series featuring him. Among his several exploits, Geronimo saves the queen of the fairies as he walks through the seven doors that transport him from kingdom to kingdom, bringing him face-to-face with witches, mermaids, pixies, fairies, dragons, gnomes and a giant. The 90-minute production is split in two acts with 3D effects and features front-rear projection with animated overlay. The shows will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from August 3 to 5 and are collaborative effort among Scholastic India, Atlantyca SPA, MEI Worldwide and JBC Inc. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's "A Star Is Born" is all set for a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The film, which marks the directorial debut of Cooper, will be screened out-of-competition at the 75th edition of the festival, the organisers said in a statement. The premiere screening will be held on August 31 in the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido. The musical romantic drama film is a remake of the 1937 film of the same name. Cooper has also penned the screenplay alongside Will Fetters and Eric Roth. Also starring Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliott, the story follows a hard-drinking country musician (Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer (Gaga). Both the actors have performed original songs for the film, which also features collaboration with artistes like Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson. The 75th Venice International Film Festival will take place from August 29 to September 8.
Critically acclaimed filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos' next feature "The Favourite", starring Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, will open the New York Film Festival. According to a statement released by the organisers, Lanthimos's film will premiere at the Alice Tully Hall on September 28 during the 56th edition of the festival. The film, which also stars "The Night Manager" actor Olivia Colman, is set in 18th century England and being described as a "wildly intricate and very darkly funny" movie. The story follows Sarah Churchill, the Duchess of Marlborough (Weisz), and her servant Abigail Hill (Stone) who engage in a sexually charged fight to the death for the body and soul of Queen Anne (Colman) at the height of the War of the Spanish Succession. "It's a great privilege to be showing 'The Favourite' for the opening night of the New York Film Festival, which is a very special place for the film," said Lanthimos. Veteran author Stephen King's horror novel "From a Buick 8" is set to get a big screen adaptation at Indian-American film producer Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment. Filmmaker William Brent Bell is set to direct the film from his own script, reported Variety. The book, published in 2002, derives its title from the 1965 Bob Dylan song "From a Buick 6". The story is set around the rural town of Statler, Pa, where state police have kept a mysterious 1954 Buick Roadmaster in the shed behind the barracks for over 20 years. After a well-liked member of the troop is killed by a drunk driver, his son begins to visit the barracks and the cops begin telling Ned about the "Buick 8," which turns out to have a malevolent spirit. Addison Mehr and Priya Amritraj will be executive producers.

Filmmaker David Leitch is in negotiations to direct the remake of Bruce Lee's 1973 classic "Enter the Dragon". According to Variety, the project is in early development, without actors or writers attached. The original film was directed by Robert Clouse, and starred Lee, John Saxon, and Jim Kelly. The film was first released in Hong Kong six days after Lee's death at the age of 32. The movie features Lee as a Shaolin martial artist from Hong Kong who is approached by a British intelligence agent investigating a crime lord. He persuades Lee to attend a martial arts competition on the criminal's private island in order to gather evidence. The martial arts actioner was also selected in 2004 for preservation in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
Actor Caleb Landry Jones has joined the cast of filmmaker Jim Jarmusch's zombie movie, "The Dead Don't Die". Details behind his role are currently unknown, reported Variety. Jones joins Bill Murray, Selena Gomez, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, and Chloe Sevigny. The film is already filming in Upstate New York. This marks Focus Features' third collaboration with Jarmusch following 2005's "Broken Flowers" and 2009's "The Limits of Control". Joshua Astrachan and Carter Logan are producing the project.
