Sixteen people, including six children, were rescued after a fire broke out in a flat in central Delhi's Subzi Mandi area on Sunday, the Delhi Fire Service officials said. A call was received at around 7:40 am about the blaze on the second floor of a building and eight fire engines were pressed into service. "The concerned police station was informed as well. We have rescued 16 people, including six children, seven women and three men," said an official. The rescue operation was challenging as an LPG gas cylinder exploded inside the flat, he added. According to the DFS, the fire has been doused and no one sustained any serious injuries. "We have started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire," said a senior police official.

An airport in London said all flights have been suspended late Tuesday after a fire broke out in one of its parking lots. Luton Airport, located about 35 miles (56 kilometers) north of central London, said that all flights are currently suspended as emergency services respond to a car fire that has spread in Terminal Car Park 2. Death toll in Bengaluru cracker shop fire rises to 14, after 2 more died

The death toll in the fire accident at a cracker shop near here reached 14 on Sunday following the death of two more people, police sources said. While 12 people were charred to death on the spot at the shop-cum-godown at Attibele in Anekal Taluk on Saturday, two others died while undergoing treatment today. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited the spot on Saturday and announced a compensaton of Rs five lakh each to the deceased. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed grief over the deaths. Most of those who died were employed at the firecracker godown-cum-shop, police said, adding efforts are being taken to ascertain the identity of the deceased. Maharashtra CM Shinde meets residents of SRA building which caught fire

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced an assistance of Rs 50,000 for every family living in a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building here which caught fire two days back. Residents of the building, located in Mumbai's Goregaon area, met CM Shinde on Saturday. Seven people, including two minors, were killed and more than 60 people injured after a fire swept through the Jay Bhavani building in the early hours of Friday. Nearly 25 motorbikes were gutted in a fire which broke out at a two-wheeler service station in Maharashtra's Pune city on Thursday morning, a fire official said. Repair work in Azadpur Mandi to be done within 45 days, says Gopal Rai

Delhi Development Minister Gopal Rai on Sunday said that traders affected due to the recent fire in Azadpur Mandi have been shifted till the damaged tin sheds are repaired. Fire breaks out at industrial estate in Mumbai, doused after 7 hours

A major fire broke out in a ground-plus-one storey industrial estate in Dahisar area of Mumbai, a fire official said on Sunday. No one was injured in the incident which took place at 11.10 pm on Saturday in the building located in Vardhaman Industrial Cooperative Society of the northern suburb, he said. It was a "level-2" blaze and was doused by 6.10 am on Sunday, the official said. Seven fire engines, six jumbo tankers, one water tanker, ambulance and other assistance was rushed to the spot after the blaze erupted, he said. The fire was confined to three-four 'galas' (units) on the ground and first floors of the structure, the official said, adding three hose lines were in operation. Eight to nine LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders are removed from the galas, he said. "No injury has been reported and the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained," the official said.

Fire incident: MCD orders survey of PGs in all wards of Civil Lines Zone

Civic authorities have ordered a survey of paying guest facilities located in all wards of the Civil Lines Zone here in the wake of a fire incident at a PG facility in an apartment in Northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, officials said on Thursday. Thirty-five people, one of them a four-year-old girl, were rescued by firemen from a blaze that engulfed the apartment on Wednesday evening. The fire started from an electric metre in the stilt area where old furniture and a rickshaw were parked, according to a report received from the site, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi said in a statement. Directions have been issued to the zonal building department to open their office on Thursday, and to "conduct a survey of PGs in all wards of the Civil Lines Zone" of the MCD, it said.
