Odisha to host G20 sub-committee meet on education, culture, energy next yr

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said three G20 sub-committee meetings on education, energy and culture will be held in Odisha next year. Pradhan was speaking during an anniversary celebration of a regional media house here. The Union Education minister and G20 sub-committee meetings on education, energy and culture will be held in Odisha in April next year. State's Heritage town Konark and Bhubaneswar are likely to be among the venues for 200 such meetings to be held in the run-up to the main summit. On December 1, India assumed the presidency of the G20 forum, taking over from Indonesia.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said the presidency of G20 coming to India is not an ordinary thing, and the world "needs India now". Sikkim to host 2 G20 events to be held next year, says CM Prem Singh Tamang

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Thursday said the Himalayan state has been assigned to host two events of the G-20. India officially assumed the G20 presidency on December 1 and is expected to host over 200 preparatory meetings across the country beginning this month. "Sikkim and Assam have been asked to host two events each of the G20 summit to be held in India next year," he said at a function in West Sikkim. The next G20 Leaders' Summit at the level of heads of states or governments is scheduled to be held on September 9 and 10 in 2023 in New Delhi.
