Vadodara-based electric vehicle (EV) maker Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility on Thursday signed an initial pact with the Gujarat government to invest Rs 2,000 crore to develop an EV ancillary cluster by 2024. The proposed investment will be on research and development of electric two-and three-wheelers, setting up a motor assembly unit at the company's Vadodara manufacturing facility, lithium-ion (li-ion) cell production and the development of ancillaries for raw material manufacturing, Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility said in a statement. The initiative is expected to generate over 5,000 employment opportunities in the state, it said. The CBI has seized cryptocurrency worth more than USD 930,000 (around Rs 7.7 crore) from an Ahmedabad-based man who allegedly cheated a US-citizen posing as a senior executive of a multi-national company's fraud department, officials said. Based on inputs from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States, the CBI filed an FIR against Ramavat Shaishav, who allegedly contacted the US citizen over the phone and introduced himself as "James Carlson" from the fraud department of Amazon, they said. During searches, the CBI found 28 Bitcoin, 55 Ethereum, 25,572 Ripple and 77 USDT in Shaishav's e-wallet. These were transferred to the government's wallet at the time of the seizure, the officials said. Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL) on Friday said it has bagged a contract worth Rs 350 crore from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC). Under the pact, TRSL will design and manufacture 30 standard gauge cars for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-II Project. The prototype has to be delivered within 70 weeks from Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and delivery completion will be 94 weeks from the LOA. These metro cars will be manufactured at the company's facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal, a statement said. The Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-II Project is being implemented by GMRC at a cost of Rs 13,500 crore. The project will add 28.2 km of metro lines to the city's existing network. The company is a manufacturer of railway wagons and passenger coaches.
The Gujarat police have arrested more than 100 people after raiding 805 spas, massage parlours, and hotels as part of a state-wide drive against flesh trade, the government said in a release on Friday. The mega crackdown was carried out on Thursday, a day after Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi directed police officials to raid all premises that were suspected of running flesh trade in the guise of legal business. During his interaction with senior police officers via video conferencing, Sanghavi expressed the Gujarat government's resolve to eradicate the flesh trade being run at hotels and in the guise of spa centres, said the release. Accordingly, the police raided 851 locations across the state on Thursday and arrested 105 persons involved in illegal activities, said the release, adding 103 FIRs (first information reports) have been registered. The Gujarat government on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) to set up a space manufacturing cluster at Sanand in Ahmedabad district. Ahmedabad-headquartered IN-SPACe is an autonomous agency of the Department of Space (DOS) that works to promote various space activities of non-governmental entities including building launch vehicles and satellites and providing space-based services, etc. As per the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding), IN-SPACe will provide incentives and technical guidance to space technology equipment manufacturing units and startups. For this purpose, a technical support and incubation center will also be set up at the IN-SPACe's headquarters, the government said.
