Swiss packaging firm SIG to set up first aseptic carton plant in Ahmedabad

Global packaging solutions provider SIG will set up its first aseptic carton plant in India at Horizon Industrial Parks' facility in Ahmedabad. SIG is partnering with Horizon Industrial Parks to set up its first aseptic carton plant in India, according to a company statement. Horizon Industrial Parks is a logistics platform in India, owned and managed by Blackstone Real Estate funds. The current portfolio comprises 17 industrial and logistics parks spread across more than 1,000 acres and with a development potential of 25 million square feet, which are in eight key markets in India. "Horizon Industrial Parks will develop a build-to-suit facility to support SIG's manufacturing of aseptic carton packs for beverages and food," the statement said. SIG to invest 100 mn euro on Gujarat plant, expects to be in top 10 markets

Leading packaging solutions provider SIG expects India to be among the top ten markets globally and will invest around 100 million Euro (Rs 878.8 crore) to set up its first plant here, its CEO Samuel Sigrist said on Wednesday. The company, which entered into the Indian market in 2018, has witnessed a "phenomenal growth" here, and expects it to "play a very important role for us going forward", he added. It is quite encouraged by the growth of the beverage industry in India, coupled with factors like the growing economy, income of the people and packed food consumption, he said. Amul expects no price hike after timely monsoon in Gujarat: Chief Mehta

Amul does not anticipate any price hike as the situation is "pretty" good this year after timely monsoon rains in Gujarat and flush milk procurement season is starting, GCMMF Managing Director Jayen S Mehta said on Wednesday. ArcelorMittal executive chairman Lakshmi N Mittal on Wednesday expressed confidence that AMNS India's Hazira project, which is under expansion, will be commissioned by 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Wednesday attend an event in Ahmedabad marking the completion of 20 years of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Fresh spell of rain boosts water level in major dams across Gujarat

The revival of monsoon activity in parts of Gujarat over the past few days has boosted the water level of reservoirs, with the stock in 207 major dams across the state rising to 93.44 per cent, officials said on Wednesday. Of these 207 major dams, the Sardar Sarovar dam built over the Narmada river, which is considered the lifeline of the state, currently has 3.33 lakh million cubic feet (mcft) of water, which is 99.73 per cent of its total storage capacity, a release by the Gujarat government said. As per the government figures, 54 dams are 100 per cent full, 90 dams, including the Sardar Sarovar Dam, have a water stock of 70 to 100 per cent of their storage capacity, 29 dams are filled up 50 to 70 per cent, 23 dams are filled up 25 to 50 per cent, while 10 dams have water less than 25 per cent of their capacity. In all, 104 dams in Gujarat are filled up to 90 per cent and they have been put on 'high alert' as a precautionary measure, the government release said. Parts of north ..

Gujarat rain: 11,900 shifted, Narmada above danger mark in Bharuch

With heavy rain lashing Gujarat since Sunday, 11,900 people living in low-lying areas in Vadodara, Bharuch, Narmada, Dahod, Panchmahal, Anand and Gandhinagar districts have been shifted to shelter homes while 270 stranded citizens were rescued. In a statement, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said work is on to clear roads by removing fallen trees. According to officials, more than 6,000 people living along the banks of the Narmada river in Bharuch district have been shifted to safer places in the last two days after the water level rose to 40 feet due to discharge from the Sardar Sarovar Dam. Several areas in Bharuch city and tehsil and many localities and villages in Ankleshwar are still under knee-deep water even though the water level has been decreasing slowly since Monday morning.
