Jaishankar discusses cooperation in space, health sectors with Brazilian FM

India and Brazil have made "discernible progress" in their bilateral ties, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said as he held comprehensive discussions with his Brazilian counterpart Carlos Franca on stepping up cooperation in key sectors like defence, counter-terrorism, space, trade, petroleum and pharma. AAP leaders likely to make promises on boosting health infra in Himachal

The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday is likely to announce health-related "guarantees" for voters in Himachal Pradesh where polls are scheduled later this year. The announcement of the "second guarantee" will be made at Kapila Farm in Una district by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The AAP, which is trying to make a foray in the state, had on August 17 given voters guarantees related to uplift of educational standards. It is expected that the "second guarantee" will be regarding improving healthcare facilities in the hill state. Mann and Sisodia had last week said that all schools in the state will be improved on the lines of those in Delhi, private ones will not be allowed to hike fees illegally, temporary teachers will be regularised, vacant posts of teacher will be filled and they won't be given any non-teaching work.

Transgender persons to get composite healthcare svcs under AB-PMJAY: Govt

Transgender persons will now get composite healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY with a MoU being signed between the National Health Authority and the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday hailed the MoU as one of its kind in the country which will give impetus to ensuring rightful and respectable place for transgenders The MoU will extend all healthcare benefits to transgender persons (holding a transgender certificate issued by the National Portal for transgender persons) across the country, Mandaviya said. The ministry of social justice and empowerment (MOSJE) will fund Rs.5 lakh insurance cover per transgender beneficiary per annum. A comprehensive package is being prepared for transgender category including the existing AB PM-JAY packages and specific packages like Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS) and treatment for transgenders, he said. Centres to be set up for people exposed to chemical, nuclear attacks

In a first, the Union Health Ministry has drawn up a proposal to set up two tertiary level centres for the treatment of people exposed to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents or attacks. It is aimed at managing medical emergencies arising out of incidents such as the Bhopal gas tragedy, Visakhapatnam HPCL refinery blast, Tughlaqabad gas leak, Kanpur ammonia gas leak and other industrial accidents, official sources told PTI. The detailed project report for setting up of these two chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) facilities at Stanley Medical College in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Jhajjar Campus, AIIMS has been readied. The project report has been prepared by HLL Infra Tech Services Ltd (HITES) in consultation with experts drawn from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defence and other sectors like the Department of Atomic Energy as well as its affiliate organisations like Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, they said. Haryana govt committed to provide better health facilities: CM Khattar

The number of doctors will be raised from 13,000 at present to 28,000 in Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday asserting that the state government is committed to provide better health facilities to its citizens. The chief minister was addressing the second convocation at the OP Jindal Auditorium at Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha on Saturday. He announced a grant of Rs 81.5 crore for Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha.
