Amritsar train tragedy: Death toll mounts to 60
At least 60 people have been died while 51 others have sustained injuries in the train mishap which took place earlier, Chief Medical Officer of Civil Hospital in Amritsar, where those injured are undergoing treatment, told ANI on Saturday.Meanwhile, the Emergency Medical Officer of Civil Hospital, Dr. Sandeep, said that most people have suffered orthopaedic injuries, abrasions, head trauma, and eye injuries. The European Medicines Agency Committee for Medical Products for Human Use (CHMP) has issued a positive opinion recommending approval of Ogivri, a biosimilar to Roches Herceptin (trastuzumab), Biocon Limited and partner Mylan N V announced Friday. The results, said Biocon, demonstrated no clinically meaningful differences in quality, potency and safety and hence, establishing biosimilarity to the reference product, Herceptin. "The positive CHMP opinion is based on data submitted as part of the Marketing Authorisation Application which included similarity assessment in analytical testing, preclinical and clinical studies," Biocon said in a release. A global study of women with ovarian cancer has found that two-third of women had never heard of the disease, or did not know anything about it before their diagnosis. Although some of them had experienced symptoms prior to diagnosis, fewer than half of those women visited a doctor within a month of noticing symptoms.Around the world approximately 2,39,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year. Regular practice of Yoga by men can reduce the incidence of recurrent spontaneous abortion as it improves the quality of sperm DNA, according to a study conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The study was conducted by experts from the Department of Anatomy in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and was published in Andrologia in October and the International Journal of Scientific Research, February edition. Rajasthan govt on toes to get rid of Zika virus
After the outbreak of Zika virus in Rajasthan, the state government is leaving no stone unturned to take precautionary measures to control the disease from spreading.Rajasthan Health Department has said mosquito fogging has been done in affected areas on a regular basis in Shashtri Nagar area of Jaipur, where the first case of Zika virus came to light."At least 67 blood and urine samples have been collected (55 pregnant females of the 1st trimester and 12 fever patients and 2 contacts). Indoor residual spraying (IRS) has been done in 58 houses of Zika Virus positive patients. Mosquito fogging done in affected areas in Jaipur's Shastri Nagar," the state health department said.The department further said that 324 health teams have been deployed in Shastri Nagar to destroy mosquito larvae found during the survey. Woman gives birth after undergoing uterus transplant
A 28-year-old woman who had undergone a uterus transplant gave birth to a baby girl at a private hospital here Thursday. A doctor who treated her claimed that it was the first such case in the country. Meenakshi Walan, resident of Vadodara, underwent the transplant in May 2017, said Dr Neeta Warty, one of the doctors who oversaw the delivery. Walan'smother donated her uterus to her daughter as Walan's uterus had become non-functional following a miscarriage, she said. After the transplant surgery, Walan conceived through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) method, she said. Walan delivered a baby girl at Galaxy Care Hospital here, where she had undergone the transplant earlier, through a cesarean delivery. Dr Warty claimed that this was the first-of-its-kind delivery not only in India but the "Asia-Pacific region". "Nine such transplants and deliveries have taken place in Sweden, two inUSAand now this is the 12th in India," she claimed.
