President Donald Trump on Monday blamed Rob Reiner's outspoken opposition to the president for the actor-director's killing, delivering the unsubstantiated claim in a shocking post that seemed intent on decrying his opponents even in the face of a tragedy. The statement, even for Trump, was a shocking comment that came as police were still investigating the deaths of the beloved director and his wife as an apparent homicide. The couple were found dead at their home Sunday in Los Angeles. Investigators believe they suffered stab wounds and the couple's son Nick Reiner, was in police custody early Monday. Trump has a long track record of inflammatory remarks, but his comments in a social media post were a drastic departure from the role presidents typically play in offering a message of consolation or tribute to the death of a public figure. His message drew criticism even from conservatives and his supporters and laid bare Trump's unwillingness to rise above political grievance in ...
Reiner worked in small theaters and started his own improv group before landing the role on what would become one of America's defining family sitcoms
Homicide detectives were investigating Sunday after two people were found dead at director-actor Rob Reiner's Los Angeles home, authorities said. The Los Angeles Fire Department said it responded to a medical aid request shortly after 3:30 pm and found a 78-year-old man and 68-year-old woman dead inside. Detectives with the Robbery Homicide Division were investigating an apparent homicide at Reiner's home, said Capt Mike Bland with the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities have not confirmed the identities of the people found dead at the residence in the upscale Brentwood neighbourhood on the city's west side that's home to many celebrities. Reiner is long one of the most prolific directors in Hollywood, and his work includes some of the most memorable movies of the 1980s and '90s, including This is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally and The Princess Bride. His role as Meathead in the 1970s TV classic All in the Family alongside Carol O'Connor's Archie Bunker ..
Paramount Skydance Corp.'s hostile bid to snatch Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. from under the nose of Netflix Inc. encapsulates the themes that have shaped a banner year for mergers and acquisitions
Trump has already signalled one personal precondition for a sale: new ownership of longtime bogeyman CNN, in a bid to exert more favorable coverage from the cable network
Paramount has launched a hostile takeover offer for Warner Bros Discovery, initiating a potentially bruising battle with rival bidder Netflix to buy the company behind HBO, CNN and a famed movie studio along with the power to reshape much of the nation's entertainment landscape. Emerging just days after top Warner managers agreed to Netflix's USD 72 billion purchase, the Paramount's Monday bid seeks to go over the heads of those leaders by appealing directly to Warner shareholders with more money -- USD 77.9 billion -- and a plan to buy all of Warner's business, including the cable business that Netflix does not want. Paramount said its decision to go hostile came after it made several earlier offers that Warner management "never engaged meaningfully" with following the company's October announcement that it was open to selling itself. In its appeal to shareholders, Paramount noted its offer also contains more cash than Netflix's bid -- USD 18 billion more -- and argued that it is .

A doctor who pleaded guilty to selling ketamine to Matthew Perry in the weeks before the "Friends" star's overdose death has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison. Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett handed down the sentence plus two years of probation to 44-year-old Dr. Salvador Plasencia in a federal courtroom in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Plasencia was the first to be sentenced of the five defendants who have pleaded guilty in connection with Perry's death at age 54 in 2023. Plasencia admitted to illegally selling large amounts of ketamine to Perry, though he did not supply the dose that authorities say killed the actor. The doctor admitted to taking advantage of Perry, knowing he was a struggling addict. Plasencia texted another doctor that Perry was a "moron" who could be exploited for money, according to court filings.
