India estimated to have harvested 355.35 MT horticulture crops in 2022-23

The country is estimated to have harvested 355.35 million tonnes of horticulture crops in the 2022-23 crop year, about 8.07 million tonnes more than the previous year, as per agriculture ministry data released on Thursday. The ministry has come out with the third production estimate after the harvesting of the 2022-23 horticulture crops. Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda said despite challenges surrounding climate change, horticulture production has gone up, thanks to efforts of farmers and agri-scientists. As per the third estimate released by the ministry, total production of horticulture crops has increased 2.32 per cent (8.07 million tonne) to 355.25 million tonnes in the 2022-23 crop year -- July-June -- from 347.18 million tonnes in the previous year. Of the total horticulture production, fruits production rose to 109.53 million tonne in 2022-23 from 107.51 million tonne in the previous year. Vegetable production, too, increased to 213.88 million tonnes in 2022-23 from 209.14

Horticulture output rises to 351.92 mn tonne in 2022-23: Govt data

India's horticulture production is estimated to have risen annually by 1.37 per cent to 351.92 million tonne in 2022-23 due to better productivity, according to government data. Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on Wednesday released the second advance estimates of the area and production of various horticultural crops for the year 2022-23. According to this estimate, total horticulture production in the country is expected to be a record 351.92 million tonne in 2022-23, with an increase of about 4.74 million tonne (1.37 per cent) as compared to the previous year, an official statement said. Horticulture output to rise marginally at record 350.87 mn tonne in 2022-23

India's horticulture production is estimated to rise 1 per cent to record 350.87 million tonnes in 2022-23, mainly on the back of higher output of fruits and vegetables. The production stood at 347.18 million tonnes in the previous year. The agriculture ministry on Monday released its first advance estimates (2022-23) of area and production of horticultural crops. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar attributed the record production to efforts made by farmers and scientists, besides favourable policies made by the central government and co-operation from states. Fruits production is estimated to rise to 107.75 million tonnes from 107.51 million tonnes in 2021-22, while the output of vegetables is projected to rise to 212.53 million tonne as compared to 209.14 million tonne.
