Youth dialogue held to boost India-Vietnam ties

In order to further relations between India and Vietnam, a youth dialogue was held here on Friday.Union Minister for Tourism, K.J. Goa to crack down on errant tourists, might ban night swimming

In what seems to be a crackdown on errant tourists, Goa's Tourism Department on Friday said it was working on a ban on swimming in the sea from dusk to dawn, limit tourism activity to a limited area on a beach and even put together punitive measures for tourists violating law.

Nepal is building memorial of 60,000 Gorkhas killed in two world wars

A memorial is being built, at the cost of Rs 9-billion, in western Nepal's Syangja district to commemorate the valour and the scarifice made by Gorkhas in the two world wars, an official said today. About 20 per cent work of the Gorkha Monument, a memorial of war veterans, has been completed, informed Monument Construction Committee chairperson Puran Dhoj Gurung. The monument, along with a museum, is being constructed at Salmedanda in Fedikhola Rural Municipality of Syangja district. Gorkha soldiers had fought the wars under the command of the British Army as per the decision of the then Rana government that ruled the country for 104 years. Additionally, a Gorkha View Tower and an ethnic cultural village would also be comstructed, he said, adding the monument is estimated to cost Rs nine billion. According to the official, so far, British Gorkhas have raised Rs 900 million and the Ministry of Urban Development of the Nepal Government has provided Rs 500 million for the construction.

Mughal era inn to be developed as wedding destination: Sidhu

The historical Serai Lashkari Khan, a caravanserai built during the Mughal era, will be developed as a wedding destination, Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said today. As part of the state government's efforts to boost tourism, a total of Rs 20 crore will be spent on the complete revamping of the Serai, which came into limelight after some sequences of the Hindi film 'Rang De Basanti' were short here. A restaurant, tented accommodation along with adequate lighting, landscaping and other facilities like toilets and parking will be included in the renovation project, Sidhu said after he visited the site. International Yoga Day to be celebrated in 140 blocks in Hry

The International Yoga Day will be celebrated across all the blocks in Haryana on June 21, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij said today. "It is for the first time that the International Yoga Day will be celebrated in 140 blocks in all 22 districts throughout the state," Vij said in an official release. About 1.25 lakh 'saadhaks' (practitioners of yoga) would perform yoga in all the programmes state wide on June 21, he said. Trainers would practice yoga as per the National Yoga Protocol at all these places. All the 'saadhaks' would be provided t-Shirts and refreshment at these places, he said.

'Yoga Ambassadors Tour',a specialized trip for yoga professionals from around the world, part of Kerala government's tourism promotion programme, was inaugurated by Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik said here today. Rail Neer case: ED attaches Rs 17.55-cr assets of caterers

The ED today said it has attached assets worth Rs 17.55 crore of two catering firms in connection with its money laundering probe into the selling of cheaper packaged water in place of Rail Neer in Rajdhani and other super-fast trains. The agency said it has issued a provisional order for attachment of assets under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Ms R K Associates and Hoteliers Pvt Ltd, Ms Satyam Caterers Pvt Ltd and five other firms. "During investigation, it is established that above licensees laundered the amount received from railway department in lieu of supply of the packaged drinking water of other brands, which was proceeds of crime," the agency said in a statement. During probe, it said, the movable properties of seven licensees-- Ms R K Associates and Hoteliers Pvt Ltd, Ms Brandavan Foods Products Ltd, Ms Satyam Caterers Pvt Ltd, Ms Food World, Ms R D Sharma, Ms P K Delicacies, Ms Doon Caterers-- were identified in their bank accounts/fixed deposits and

Rail Neer scam: ED attaches Rs. 17.55 crore assets of private caterers

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday attached movable assets worth Rs 17.55 crore of R.K. Associates and Hoteliers Pvt. Ltd, Satyam Caterers Pvt. Ltd, and others in a scam related to Rail Neer.The ED initiated the investigation under Prevention of Money Laundering Act on an FIR registered by the CBI against Railway officers and private caterers for allegedly supplying other brands of drinking waters instead of "Rail Neer" brand of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in Rajdhani and Shatabdi Trains and thereby causing losses to the government exchequer.The investigation conducted by the CBI revealed that private caterers namely R.K. Associates and Hoteliers Pvt Ltd., Brandavan Foods Products Ltd., Sunshine Caterers, Satyam Caterers Pvt Ltd., Food World, R.D. Sharma, P.K. Delicacies, Doon Caterers, Ambuj Hotels and Real Estate were mandated to supply Rajdhani and Shatabdi Trains with IRCTC's Rail Neer water bottles.But instead, they supplied other packaged ...

North Korea airs video of Kim Jong-un's Singapore visit

North Korea's state media today aired a documentary glorifying Chairman Kim Jong-Un's visit to Singapore for a historic summit with US President Donald Trump. The 42-minute long video revealed behind-the-scenes footage of Kim's unprecedented trip, including of him arriving in Singapore on a Chinese plane and lounging in his luxury hotel. Zimbabwe targets 16,000 Indian travellers by 2021

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) today said it has appointed VFS Global to promote the country in both India and the Gulf, and eyes 16,000 travellers from the sub-continent by 2021. "Zimbabwe has recently targeted India as a primary market due to the rapid growing disposable incomes in India. India is a huge market for us, hence the modest approach to target at least 16,000 Indian travellers by 2021. This will be done through sustainable destination marketing done by VFS Global," ZTA Chief Executive Karikoga Kaseke said in a release.
