Three persons were killed when their bike rammed into a stationary tractor-trolley here, police said Saturday. The motorcycle carrying Amit Saini (26), Anuj Saini (27) and Chaman Saini (28) dashed into the brick-laden tractor trolley on Said Nagli Manota road on Friday night, police station in-charge Rakesh Kumar said. All the three died on the spot. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

The iconic Matheran toy train, a major tourist attraction, will have one air-conditioned coach from Saturday, Central Railway (CR) officials said. The AC coach is being introduced to make the journey more comfortable for the passengers, they said. "It is for the fist time, the Neral-Matheran train will have an AC coach," a spokesperson of the CR said. "It will provide much-needed relief to the tourists from the sweltering heat and make their journey more exciting," he said. The fare of this AC coach is Rs 415 per person, which includes basic fare, reservation charges and the GST, the official added. The 111-year-old toy train, which was shut since May 2016 following derailments, had resumed full services in January this year. The train is a big attraction for tourists visiting the picturesque Matheran hill station in neighbouring Raigad district.

Three battery-operated cars has been introduced by the state Wildlife Protection Department as part of its eco-tourism promotion campaign and ensuring a healthy environment at the most-visited tourist place in the Jammu region, the officials said. The Railways will run Samanta Express, a special train to mark the 128th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar, from March next year covering Buddhist sites in India and Nepal, a senior official said Thursday. The special tourist train would commence its journey on March 28 from Nagpur, Maharashtra, where Ambedkar adopted Buddhism along with many of his supporters in 1956. In an earlier release from the railways, the date of the commencement of the train service was mentioned as April 19, 2019, the birth anniversary of Ambedkar. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Goa has launched a crackdown on nightclubs, beach shacks, restaurants and other places which they suspect are serving substandard food or operating without licence. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane Thursday said three food outlets at Morjim beach in North Goa have been closed down along with a restaurant attached to a resort for providing substandard food. "One of these food outlets was being run by three Russians and it did not have FDA licence which is mandatory as per the local laws," Rane said. The minister said the FDA will continue its crackdown to ensure that food items served at restaurants are safe for consumption. "The restaurant attached to a resort which was closed down by FDA was serving substandard food and also contaminated water to guests," Rane said, quoting from a report prepared by officials who inspected the premises. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday said the sea resort town of Digha is being developed as both a tourist destination and an industry hub to make it comparable to similar places in the country. Speaking at an administrative meeting here in East Midnapore district, Banerjee called upon the local authorities to make it clean, decorated and attractive to tourists both from the country and abroad.
