Ancient monastery renovated in Nepal
A 1,250 years old Buddhist monastery in Nepal's famous tourist destination Muktinath has been renovated at a cost of Rs 2.85 crore. The ancient monastery, Narsing Gumba, built from stone and mud, although repaired few years back, had started leaking and its walls had become wobbly. Buddhist preacher Rimpochhe is credited for constructing this monastery at Muktinath, a famous pilgrim site which attracts thousands of Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims annually. The monastery has been renovated at a cost of Rs 2.85 crore, said Muktinath Area Development Committee president Hira Bahadur Thakuri. The grant assistance for the renovation of the monastery was provided by the Department of Archaeology; Ministry of Culture and Tourism; then District Development Committee, Mustang; the Muktinath Kshetra Development Committee; the local conservation committee and the Water-induced Disaster Management Committee. The devotees have placed the idols of various gods and goddesses inside the monastery.

Wine's origin may affect price more than taste: Study
A wine's origin, rather than its taste, may play a larger role in determining how much a person is willng to pay for the drink, a study has found. Researchers from Washington State University in the US found through a series blind taste tests that 'nontaste-related factors' may play a larger role in how much consumers are willing to pay for wine in Hong Kong, compared with their western counterparts. The test was administered in three stages. First, there was a purely blind tasting test, in which participants received no information about the wine. The participants were then provided with the wine's country of origin prior to the tasting. In the third stage, full information on the wines, including attributes such as grape variety, region and winery of origin, were provided before tasting. CCI approves Black River Food's 25 pc stake purchase in Gemini Edibles and Fats
Fair trade regulator CCI Tuesday approved purchase of 25 per cent stake in Hyderabad-based Gemini Edibles and Fats India (GEF India) by Singapore's Black River Food. According to CCI, Black River Food 2 Pte Ltd is a company incorporated in Singapore and is registered as a foreign venture capital investor under the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). Black River is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Black River Food 2 LP which specialises in investments in food industry and agribusiness value chain. Besides, GEF India, a subsidiary of Golden Agri Resources of Singapore, which in turn is a part of Sinarmas Group, is engaged in the manufacture and sale of edible oils, including Vanaspati, and bakery fats in India.
