Pune man to cycle from Kashmir to Kkanyakumari to testify Valley as 'safe tourist destination'
In a bid to refurbish the Valley's image as a safe tourist destination, a Maharashtra native began Tuesday a 4,000 km-long, Kashmir to Kanyakumari cycling expedition from here. Tourism Kashmir Director Tasaduq Jeelani flagged off cyclist Vivek Lokur's expedition at Tourist Reception Centre here, hailing him as "ambassador of Kashmir tourism". Lokur, a Pune resident, said he decided to choose Srinagar as his starting point to spread the massage that it is completely safe for tourists to visit Kashmir. AIUDF MLAs seek gym, swimming pool in MLA Hostel campus
Opposition AIUDF Tuesday demanded a gymnasium and a swimming pool inside the MLA Hostel campus for use of the legislators and their families. Signed by 10 MLAs of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), the memorandum to the Assam Assembly Speaker asked for establishing a "state-of-the-art gym with professional instructors" in the campus of MLA Hostel. They also sought a swimming pool for use of the MLAs and their family members. "As the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India says as a slogan 'Hum fit toh India fit', we believe that you will accept the proposal as top most priority for healthy Assam as well," the memorandum said. The applicatioin was signed by Hafiz Bashir Ahmed, Aminul Islam, Abdur Rahim Ajmal, Nizanur Rahman, Ananta Kumar Malo, Anwar Hussain Laskar, Sahab Uddin Ahmed, Suzam Uddin Laskar, Nizam Uddin Choudhury and Mamun Imdadul Haque Chawdhury.
Deb launches logo of Tripura tourism
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today launched the logo of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) and said the state has huge potential to develop tourism. The logo has images of state animal spectacled monkey, historical tourist spot Unakoti, the Tripurasundari temple, state fruit queen pineapple and a tribal woman. It was designed by Debaditya Bhowmik, a final year computer science engineering student of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala. "A logo is very important for developing Tourism in any state. Tourism without a logo is like a letter without address. We have a huge potential in tourism sector," he told a press conference after inaugurating the logo. Ducati drives in 959 Panigale Corse at Rs 15.2 lakh
Italian super bike maker Ducati Tuesday launched the 959 Panigale Corse in India priced at Rs 15.2 lakh (ex-showroom). The model coming to India is a special edition, sporting a dedicated livery inspired by the Ducati Corse MotoGP colours, the company said in a statement. "The 959 Panigale embodies absolute excellence through the advanced electronics package that inspires confidence and allows riders to explore the limit," Ducati India Managing Director Sergi Canovas said. The bike comes with a 955-cc engine which generates a power of 157 HP of power. It comes with an electronics package, including latest ABS from Bosch, Ducati traction control (DTC), Ducati quick shift (DQS), engine brake control (EBC) and ride-by-wire (RbW). Tanzania eyes 6-10% growth in tourist arrivals from India in
Tanzania is expecting a 6-10 per cent growth in tourist footfalls from India this year mainly aided by promotions and direct air connectivity between both the nations expected to begin from November. The east African nation had hosted 69,000 travellers from India in 2017. "With our promotional activities like roadshows in India since the past 10-12 months, we are hoping to witness a 6-10 per cent growth in tourist footfalls this year. We also feel that the direct flights from Mumbai to Dar Es Salaam, expected to begin from November, will further boost tourism from India," Tanzania Tourist Board managing director Devota Mdachi told PTI. Maha: Hotelier alleges extortion call from fugitive gangster
A hotelier in Maharashtra's Thane district has complained to the police that a man identifying himself as fugitive gangster Suresh Pujari was demanding Rs 50 lakh from him, an official said Saturday. The hotelier has told police that the man had made several calls and sent text messages between September 15-20 demanding extortion money, the official said. "The caller threatened to shoot the hotelier if he did not pay up Rs 50 lakh. We have registered a case of extortion and further probe is underway," said an official from Wagle Estate police station.

'Resilient' Wayanad beckons tourists
Nearly a month after the heavy rainfall and resultant floods in Kerala, tourism destinations have re-opened in the state, particularly picturesque Wayanad. To attract tourists, Wayanad Tourism is hostings a bike rally called 'Wayanad Beckons' in which 20 riders are taking part.
