Several hospitals in Jaipur receive email bomb threats, says police

Several Hospitals in Jaipur received email bomb threats on Sunday, police said. Bomb disposal squad teams have been dispatched to the hospitals. The emails claimed that bombs had been planted under hospital beds and in bathrooms, police said. "So far, four hospitals have said that they received such (bomb threat) emails. More hospitals are likely to confirm as and when they check emails," Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph told PTI. 'Declare hospitals as safe zones, give compensation to victim's family'

All hospitals across the country should be declared safe zones like airports so that doctors can work without fear, Indian Medical Association (IMA) chief Dr R V Asokan said on Friday. This is one of the five demands of the IMA, which has declared a 24-hour nationwide withdrawal of non-emergency medical services (from 6 am on Saturday to 6 am on Sunday) to protest against the alleged rape and killing of a trainee woman doctor and vandalism at a state-run medical college in Kolkata. Crime Scene not disturbed, says police after vandalism at RG Kar Hospital

Unidentified miscreants entered the premises of state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital here shortly after midnight on Thursday and vandalised portions of the medical facility, where the body of a woman doctor was found last week, police said. The incident took place amid midnight protests by women against the horrific rape-murder of the doctor at the hospital. According to the police, a group of nearly 40 people, allegedly disguised as protestors, entered the hospital premises, vandalised property and pelted stones at police personnel prompting them to fire teargas to disperse the mob. A police vehicle and a few two-wheelers at the spot were also damaged in the incident, they said. Some police officers were injured in the violence, an officer said. Patient shot dead by teenager inside ward in Delhi's GTB hospital

A 32-year-old man was shot dead by a teenager inside a ward of the GTB Hospital here on Sunday, police said. The victim, Riyazuddin, was admitted to the hospital on June 23 and he was undergoing treatment for abdominal infection, according to police. The incident took place in Ward Number 24 of the hospital, they said and added that there was one shooter. Riyazuddin was injured and was later declared dead, police said. "The PCR call regarding the incident in Ward No. 24 was received at the GTB Enclave police station," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary said. "On reaching the spot, police found that a patient, namely Riyazuddin, received injury. He was later declared dead by doctors," he said. The officer said around 4 pm, an 18-year-old man came inside the ward and fired at Riyazuddin. "Case is being registered and teams have been formed to nab the culprit. Prima facie, the matter seems to be of personal enmity," the DCP said.

The administration of King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital, a civic-run facility, has issued show-cause notices to six staff members following the circulation of a video showing paper plates made from folders of patients' reports. Seven more children suffering from suspected food poisoning at a shelter home in Madhya Pradesh's Indore city have been admitted to a government hospital, an official said on Wednesday. With this, the number of such children admitted to the hospital has risen to 38, he said. As many as 204 children, including orphans and those suffering from mental ailments, had been housed at the Shri Yugpurush Dham Bal Ashram, located in Malharganj police station area here, an official earlier said. Fire has taken 83 lives and injured over 390 people so far this year in the national capital, according to an official data. According to the data by the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), 16 people were killed in fire in January, another 16 in February, 12 in March, four in April, seven in May and 24 till June 24. On Tuesday (June 25), four members of a family were suffocated to death in Chhawala area of Delhi's Dwarka. Fire incidents led to 51 injuries in January, 42 in February, 62 in March, 78 in April, 84 in May and 77 till June 24. From January 1 to June 24, the DFS received 12,687 fire-related calls. According to the data, 39 people had lost their lives during the same period in 2023. "The number of fire calls increased to 48 per cent this year. A Korean Air flight to Taiwan was forced to return to Incheon airport west of Seoul after a sudden depressurization on the plane, a Boeing 737 Max 8, the transport ministry said Tuesday. The ministry said 19 of the 133 people aboard the flight Saturday were sent to hospitals due to ear pain and nosebleeds, but none suffered serious injuries. The airline and the ministry said the cause of the problem was under investigation. The aircraft was grounded and the ministry ordered South Korea's 11 airlines to examine pressurization systems in all their 400 aircraft. The sudden depressurization occurred about 50 minutes after the flight's departure.
