Tata Motors will start operating trucks powered by hydrogen internal combustion engines on a pilot basis in the March quarter, according to a senior company official. Under the pilot project, part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the company along with IOCL will run the trucks on three routes for 18 months. At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Tata Motors, last week, unveiled the truck powered by a hydrogen internal combustion engine. Tata Motors Executive Director Girish Wagh said the company is getting ready for both technologies -- hydrogen internal combustion engine and fuel cell electric vehicles. The trucks with hydrogen internal combustion engines will start operating this quarter, he said. It will be operated on three routes -- Mumbai-Pune, Jamshedpur-Kalinganagar and Mumbai-Ahmedabad. The pilot project will generate a lot of data which will be used to improve the product as well as the infrastructure for fuelling hydrogen, Wagh told PTI. He spoke on Friday on
V O Chidambaranar Port, one of the popular seaports of Tamil Nadu, has earmarked Rs 41,860 crore worth of investments, aimed at making it the Green Hydrogen-Ammonia hub of the country, a top official said. The port has also taken measures to augment capacity after witnessing an increase in cargo handling this year. V O Chidambaranar Port has handled a cargo volume of 29.70 million tonnes including 5.62 lakh TEUs of containers till December 19, 2024 this is an overall growth of 1.87 per cent and 6.74 per cent, respectively. "With the ever-increasing trend in cargo handling, the Port has initiated several strategic capacity augmentation and cargo evacuation initiatives to increase cargo throughput, enhance handling efficiency and expand its market share in the region," a press release said on Sunday. TKIL Industries on Tuesday said that it has acquired a stake in Swiss company Sohhytec SA, which will give it access to a technology for producing green hydrogen directly from solar energy. TKIL, formerly known as Thyssenkrupp Industries India, can produce pressurised hydrogen and also set up the infrastructure which will be required to store and fill up vehicles, the company's chief executive Vivek Bhatia said. "We are already in conversations with OMCs (oil marketing companies) and we are giving our first proposals on what a hydrogen based retail facility will look like," Bhatia said. Automobile companies have already created the necessary engines to make it possible for vehicles to run on hydrogen, Bhatia said, pointing to a particular model commercially launched by a Japanese automaker and added that heavy vehicles will also benefit from its usage. Declining to disclose the stake bought in the Swiss company or the money invested for buying exclusive rights for the technology in

Adani group has started blending green hydrogen in natural gas that is supplied to households for cooking purposes in parts of Ahmedabad, with a view to cut emissions and meet net-zero targets. Adani Total Gas Ltd, the group's city gas joint venture with French energy giant TotalEnergies, has started blending 2.2-2.3 per cent of green hydrogen in piped natural gas supplies in Shantigram in Ahmedabad, the firm said in a post on LinkedIn. Hydrogen produced through clean pathways is injected into natural gas pipelines, and the resulting blends are used to generate heat and power with lower emissions than using natural gas alone. The firm has started producing green hydrogen by using renewable energy sources like wind or solar power, to split water into hydrogen and oxygen through a process called electrolysis. This hydrogen is blended in natural gas that is currently piped to households for cooking purposes and industries. "We are thrilled to announce the successful commissioning of o
