The country's 22nd Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is set to be established in Guwahati with an investment of Rs 555 crore, as Parliament cleared a Bill in this regard on Wednesday, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan saying the new institution will start admitting students from the current academic year itself. The Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was passed by the Rajya Sabha with a voice vote even as the Opposition staged a walkout soon after the bill was introduced. It was cleared by the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The bill to set up an IIM in Guwahati will go for Presidential assent after its passage in both Houses of Parliament. Assam goes to the polls early next year. The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad on Wednesday said it has signed an agreement with Novo Nordisk India to strengthen the obesity care ecosystem in the country for five years till 2030. The memorandum of understanding, inked on Tuesday, aims to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem in India through a multi-dimensional approach focused on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), especially obesity, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) said in a statement. "This collaboration with Novo Nordisk India brings together healthcare and public policy, two domains where data and research can enable lasting change. Women students of IIM-Nagpur comprised 46 per cent of the total 267 MBA graduates from the 2023-25 batch, marking a three per cent increase compared to the previous batch. In the 2022-24 cohort, nearly 43 per cent of regular MBA graduates were women, according to officials from the Indian Institute of Management-Nagpur (IIM-N). The institute recorded 100 per cent placements for the current batch, with leading companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, BNP Paribas, and Vedanta participating in recruitment. Notably, three students received record-breaking offers, and four secured international placements. The highest salary offers stood at Rs 69.57 LPA for final placements and Rs 2.70 lakh for summer internships, while the average packages were Rs 18.07 LPA and Rs 89,856, respectively.
