IMD predicts thunderstorm, rain in UP, Uttarakhand in next 2 hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted a thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain at many places over Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh during the next 2 hours."Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over Kasganj, Bijnor, Roorkee, Hastinapur, Chandpur, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Kithaur, Gharmukteswar, Sambhal, Chandausi and adjoining areas during next 2 hours," IMD said in a tweet at 9 am.Further, IMD has also issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Pauri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Nainital and Champawat districts of Uttarakhand.The weather forecasting agency has predicted that the monsoon can reach Uttarakhand between June 15 and 20.

IMD predicts light to moderate intensity rain in parts of Delhi-NCR today

Parts of Delhi and its adjoining areas will witness light to moderate intensity rain with thunderstorm, the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) predicted on Sunday."23-05-2021; 0915 IST; Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over isolated places of Southwest, South Delhi, Farukhnagar, Manesar (Haryana) and adjoining areas during next 2 hours," the IMD said in a tweet.Residents of Delhi woke up to reduced visibility due to dust raising winds."Due to dust raising winds, visibility reduced in Delhi. Safdarjung reported 0500 m visibility at 0830 hrs IST of today," the IMD tweeted.Earlier this week, Delhi recorded the highest ever rainfall of 119.3 mm in the last 24 hours since 1951 for the month of May after weather conditions in the city changed under the impact of Cyclone Tauktae."Delhi has received highest ever Rainfall of 119.3 mm since 1951 for the month of May," the IMD said in a tweet on Thursday.

Above normal day temperatures likely over north India from Apr to June: IMD

Day temperatures are likely to be above normal over north and east India from April to June, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its summer forecast. The IMD said below normal seasonal maximum temperatures are likely over most of south India, parts of east India, northeast and extreme north India. "During the upcoming hot weather season (April to June), above normal seasonal maximum temperatures are likely over most of the subdivisions of north, northwest and few subdivisions of east central India. "However, below normal seasonal maximum temperatures are likely over most of the subdivisions of south peninsular India and few subdivisions of east, northeast and extreme north India," the IMD said. Several parts of the country saw temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius in March.
