Nine foreign nationals, including two women, were taken into custody by police in Greater Noida on Tuesday for illegally staying in India, officials said. As many as 65 foreign nationals have been detained so far for illegal stay by the Gautam Buddh Nagar police in less than a month, they said. Police said they detained three African nationals on Tuesday who were found with their visas expired while the other six did not have passports and visas. The action comes as part of a verification drive for foreign nationals living in the district, adjoining Delhi, in the wake of the busting of a drug-manufacturing lab in Greater Noida on May 16 in which nine African natives were arrested. "On Tuesday, during the verification campaign, six persons, including a woman, were arrested from Supertech Gold Country society by the officials of Rabupura police station. India's internet economy is expected to register six-fold growth and touch USD 1 trillion by 2030, mainly driven by the e-commerce vertical, a joint report by Google, Temasek and Bain & Company released on Tuesday said. The report estimates that India's internet-economy was in the range of USD 155-175 billion in 2022. According to the report, the growth will be led by the B2C e-commerce segment, followed by B2B e-commerce, software-as-a-service providers and online media led by over-the-top players. "India's internet economy is expected to grow 6 x to USD 1 trillion by 2030," Google India, Country Manager & Vice President, Sanjay Gupta said while sharing details of the report. India has recorded 124 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases have decreased to 3,001 from 3,193, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The death toll has increased to 5,31,884 with two deaths which includes one reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.49 crore (4,49,91,880) The active cases now comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections and the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.81 per cent, the ministry said. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,44,56,995 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent. According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' on Monday said that officials from both Nepal and India should sit down for discussions to resolve the border issue between the two countries.
