Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a meeting with the top defence establishment, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the chiefs of three services. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan was also part of the meeting, which was held amid India weighing its countermeasures following the Pahalgam terror attack which left at least 26 civilians, mostly tourists, dead. Modi has vowed to pursue the terrorists behind the attack and their patrons, a clear reference to Pakistan which has a history of sponsoring terror strikes in India, to the "ends of earth" and inflict harshest punishment on them.

IOS Sagar: Indian Navy trains 44 foreign personnel in high-seas adventure

The 44 personnel from nine friendly foreign countries (FFCs) undergoing training as part of the Indian Navy's Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) Sagar mission felt that they were receiving top-tier training from a strong security partner in the Indian Ocean region. Participants from the Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Tanzania have been undergoing training for the past four days at various naval professional schools in Kochi, including sessions at sea. As part of this mission, the offshore patrol vessel, INS Sunayna, has been renamed IOS Sagar and deployed with a combined crew of Indian personnel and officers from these friendly nations. India has successfully carried out field evaluation trials of indigenously-developed third-generation anti-tank guided missile Nag Mk-2. The defence ministry said the trials were conducted recently at a firing range in Rajasthan's Pokhran in the presence of senior Army officers. "Field evaluation trials of indigenously-developed Nag Mk 2, the third-generation anti-tank fire-and-forget guided missile, were successfully conducted recently at Pokhran field range in the presence of senior officers of the Indian Army," it said.
