Pilots' body FIP has served a legal notice to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) regarding the summoning of a nephew of Sumeet Sabharwal, one of the pilots who died in an Air India plane crash at Ahmedabad in June last year. In connection with its probe into the crash, AAIB has summoned Captain Varun Anand, nephew of the late Sabharwal and a narrow-body aircraft pilot with Air India. Anand is also a member of the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP). Sabharwal was one of the pilots who operated the ill-fated Boeing 787-8 plane that crashed into a medical hostel complex on June 12, 2025, soon after take-off from Ahmedabad for London Gatwick. Private sector lender South India Bank on Thursday reported a 9.3 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 374 crore for the third quarter ended December 2025. The Kerala-based lender had earned a net profit of Rs 342 crore in the same quarter a year ago. Its total income increased to Rs 3,003 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 2,780 crore in the year-ago period, South Indian Bank said in a regulatory filing. Interest income also rose to Rs 2,518 crore from Rs 2,379 crore in the third quarter of the previous fiscal. The bank's operating profit improved to Rs 584 crore from Rs 529 crore in the December 2024 quarter. On the asset quality front, the bank's gross non-performing assets (NPAs) declined to 2.67 per cent of gross loans by the end of December 2025 from 4.30 per cent a year ago. Similarly, net NPAs or bad loans fell to 0.45 per cent compared to 1.25 per cent in FY25. Its capital adequacy ratio moderated to 17.84 per cent from 18 per cent at the end of the same quarter

District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (suburban Mumbai) on January 6 held Amazon Seller Services Private Limited (ASSPL) guilty of deficiency in service for resolving the issue. State-owned Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) on Tuesday posted 26.5 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 1,779 crore for the third quarter ended December 2025 with rising interest income. The Pune-based lender had posted a net profit of Rs 1,406 crore in the October-December period a year ago. Total income increased to Rs 8,277 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 7,112 crore in the same period previous year, BoM said in a regulatory filing. The bank earned an interest income of Rs 7,344 crore during the quarter compared to Rs 6,325 crore a year ago. Net Interest Income (NII) grew 16 per cent to Rs 3,422 crore in Q3FY26 as against Rs 2,943 crore in Q3FY25. The board has approved an interim dividend of 10 per cent on the equity shares of the bank i.e., Rs 1 per share having face value of Rs 10 each for financial year 2025-26, BoM Managing Director and CEO Nidhu Saxena said during a media interaction.
