Sebi allows advisers, analysts to charge advance fees for up to a year

Capital markets regulator Sebi on Wednesday allowed investment advisers and research analysts to charge advance fees for up to one year. Under the existing rules, investment advisers (IAs) can charge fees in advance for up to two quarters if agreed upon by the client, while for research analysts (RAs), it was only for a quarter. "If agreed by the client, IAs and RAs may charge fees in advance, however, such advance shall not exceed fees for a period of one year," the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) said in its circular. The fee-related provisions such as fee limit, modes of payment of fees, refund of fees, advance fee, and breakage fees will only be applicable in the case of their individual and Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) clients (provided these clients are not accredited investors). ICRA ESG Ratings gives its first rating to InCred Financial Services

ICRA ESG Ratings Limited has assigned its first Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) rating to InCred Financial Services, a non-banking financial company. ICRA ESG received registration as a Category-I ESG Rating Provider (ERP) from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) earlier this fiscal. ICRA ESG was formerly known as Pragati Development Consulting Services Limited (PDCSL). "InCred Financial Services Limited, a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) focused on personal loans, student loans, and business loans, has been assigned a rating of [ICRA ESG] Impact 57, Moderate," said ICRA ESG Ratings Limited (ICRA ESG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ICRA, in a release. Quest Investment Advisors on Monday announced the launch of its Rs 700 crore new open-ended Category III Alternative Investment Fund (AIF). Person giving advice to overseas clients exempted from registration: Sebi

Any person who provides investment advice to clients exclusively based out of India is exempted from seeking registration under the rules governing investment advisor (IA), capital markets regulator Sebi has said. However, if the person gives investment advice to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Person of Indian Origin (PIOs) then he or she will fall under the purview of IA rules and need to obtain a registration certificate, Sebi said in the list of frequently asked questions on investment advisers uploaded on its website on Tuesday.
