India, Saudi Arabia discuss ways to increase bilateral investments

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday met Saudi Arabia's Minister of Investment Khalid A Al-Falih, and discussed ways to boost bilateral investments between the two countries in different sectors. Goyal, who is on a two-day visit to Riyadh, also participated in the seventh edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh. Global solar projects set to win more than $380 bn investment this year

Investment is increasing in the global solar energy projects, and is expected to be more than USD 380 billion this year, the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Director General Dr Ajay Mathur has said. Mathur made these remarks on Monday on the sidelines of the Singapore International Energy Week. The good thing is that investment flow is increasing. It was about USD 310 billion for the whole of last year, and USD 235 billion investment has come in during the first half of this year, Dr Mathur told PTI. We expect it to be more than $380 billion this year. Elaborating on ISA work, he said, Our goal is that in every member country, we make solar the energy of choice. ISA will have 120 member countries by the end of this year, up from 116 currently. Steelbird lines up Rs 250 crore capex for new plant in Tamil Nadu's Hosur

Leading helmet maker Steelbird Hi-tech India aims to invest over Rs 250 crore to set up a new manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, as it looks to scale up capacity to cater to rising demand, according to a top company official. The company, which has four plants each in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) and Noida, is looking to roll out over 20,000 units from the Hosur plant in two years time. In an interaction with PTI, Steelbird MD Rajeev Kapur said the plant has been envisaged to cater to the aftermarket and demand from various OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) based in South India. "In the initial phase, we are looking to invest Rs 100 crore in the project. The total capex spread over two years would be in the range of Rs 250 crore," he noted. Haier's IITGNL unit receives govt approval, Rs 400 cr investment expected

The phase two expansion of Haier Appliances unit in the Integrated Industrial Township of Greater Noida Limited (IITGNL) has been approved, government officials said on Friday. The company is expected to make an investment of Rs 400 crore and generate employment opportunities for 1,000 people in the second phase of development, the officials said. The development comes after a recent visit of UP Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, who noted that several investments in Greater Noida were stuck due to pending map approvals of companies. "Haier Appliances, located in the Integrated Industrial Township of IITGNL, after constructing the first phase unit and starting production, is now going to start the construction of the second phase unit," Greater Noida Authority CEO NG Ravi Kumar said. Power Grid Corp okays Rs 119.95 crore investment in transmission project

State-owned Power Grid Corporation on Friday approved an investment of Rs 119.95 crore for electricity transmission project 'Eastern Region Expansion Scheme- XXXVII (ERES-XXXVII)'. "Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects' of POWERGRID in its meeting held today (October 20) accorded investment approvals for 'Eastern Region Expansion Scheme- XXXVII (ERES-XXXVII)' at an estimated cost of Rs 119.95 crore," according to a BSE filing. It is scheduled to be commissioned within 24 months from the date of allocation by NCT, that is May 19, 2025, the filing added.

IRM Energy's Rs 545 crore IPO subscribed 27 times on last day of offer

The Initial Public Offering (IPO) of city gas distribution company IRM Energy was subscribed 27.05 times on the last day of subscription on Friday. The Rs 545.40 crore-initial share sale received bids for 20,62,70,910 shares against 76,24,800 shares on offer, as per NSE data. The category for non-institutional investors was subscribed 48.34 times while the portion for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) received 44.73 times subscription and Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) quota got subscribed 9.29 times. The IPO was a fresh issue of up to 1.08 crore equity shares. The price range for the offer was Rs 480-505 a share. IRM Energy Ltd on Tuesday said it has raised over Rs 160 crore from anchor investors. Global maritime summit attracts investments worth Rs 2.37 trn on day-2

The Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) has attracted investment proposals worth of Rs 2.37 lakh crore on second day of the three-day event with the signing of as many as 70 initial pacts, according to a release. These Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were signed in the areas of port development and modernisation, green hydrogen and ammonia, port-led development, business and commerce, shipbuilding, knowledge sharing and port connectivity in the presence of the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, and others. "The Global Maritime India Summit, 2023 has ushered a new age in sustainable development of the country with a record number of 70 MoUs with an investment of Rs 2.37 lakh crore. "The maritime sector is playing an instrumental role, as it has paved the way for India to set sail towards Green Sustainability Transportation," Sonowal said. Even as India's retirement system has improved to some extent from last year, the country ranked 45 out of the 47 retirement income systems analysed, a report said on Tuesday. India had an overall index value of 45.9 from 44.5 in 2022, ranking 45 out of the 47 retirement income systems analysed primarily due to improvement in adequacy and sustainability sub-indices, according to the 15th annual Mercer CFA Institute Global Pension Index (MCGPI). The Netherlands had the highest overall index value (85.0), closely followed by Iceland (83.5) and Denmark (81.3). Argentina had the lowest index value (42.3), it added. This year, the Global Pension Index compares 47 retirement income systems across the globe and covers 64 per cent of the world's population. The Global Pension Index uses the weighted average of the sub-indices of adequacy, sustainability and integrity to measure each retirement system against more than 50 indicators.
