Cong complaints against BJP's ad portraying it against SC, ST, OBC quotas

A Congress delegation on Monday took up with the Election Commission eight complaints regarding Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly polls, including a "communal" image posted by the BJP depicting reservations being taken from SCs, STs and OBCs and given to members of a minority community. The opposition party claimed that all the eight complaints raised by it were found "valid" by the poll body. "We raised some serious concerns with the Election Commission. These matters were discussed today. All the eight complaints raised by the Congress were found valid by the Election Commission," Congress MP Sasikanth Senthil, who led the delegation, told reporters outside the EC office here. In his memorandum to the EC on Monday, Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh cited the said image posted on the BJP's X handle with the caption -- "Congress-led MVA's game of appeasement is ON... Vote wisely, Maharashtra". "The image in the post falsely depicted an individual ..

Congress trying to break collective strength of SC, ST, OBC: PM Modi

The Congress is trying to break the collective strength of SC, ST and OBC by creating divisions among them to weaken their voice and eventually end the reservation for them, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday as he called for unity among these communities. That's why I keep saying ek rahenge, toh safe rahenge (if you remain united, you would be safe)," he said while interacting with BJP workers in Jharkhand under the 'mera booth sabse mazboot' programme through the NaMo app. Modi also highlighted the "failures" of the JMM-Congress-RJD combine's five-year rule and said the state has to be freed from corruption, mafiaism and misrule to put it on the path of progress. The kind of blessings that the BJP is receiving at booth levels, it's clear that the corrupt JMM-led government is set to be ousted, Modi asserted. The countdown has begun, he said. Modi said everyone from the royal family of the Congress -- from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rajiv Gandhi -- were staunch opponents of the .

People of Jharkhand have decided for change: PM Modi to BJP workers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched an all-out attack on the Congress, JMM and RJD, accusing them of talking big but failing to deliver on their promises. Addressing a 'mera booth sabse mazboot' programme for BJP's booth-level workers in Jharkhand, he also slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for his remarks that his party has given "false guarantees" to the people. He said in these polls, the people of Jharkhand are determined to bring change. The biggest reason for this, the prime minister said, is that JMM, Congress and RJD have attacked Jharkhand's "roti, beti and maati" (bread, daughters and land). They talked big in the last five years, but today the people of Jharkhand are seeing that most of their promises are false, Modi said. The state goes to assembly polls on November 13 and 20. He said despite the lack of cooperation from the state government, the Centre is trying its best to develop the state with its mantra of 'sabka saath, sabka vikas'. Dynas

Jharkhand converted into 'dharmashala' for infiltrators, says CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday accused the JMM-led coalition in Jharkhand of converting the state into a 'dharmshala' for Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators. Adityanath said a double-engine government was needed in Jharkhand for "treatment" of mafia, stone pelters and those spreading anarchy and creating disturbances in festivals. "Jharkhand has been converted into a 'dharmashala' for Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators who have been given free rein to spread anarchy," he claimed, while addressing an election rally at Bhawnathpur in Garhwa. He urged people to remain united, saying if divided they will be wiped out. "Batenge to katenge, ek rahenge to safe rahege (If divided, we will be wiped out, if united, we will remain safe)," he said. Adityanath alleged that the JMM-led government in Jharkhand fuelled corruption, anarchy and loot of natural resources. BJP's campaign in Jharkhand focused solely on communal polarisation: Cong

The Congress on Monday alleged that the BJP's campaign in Jharkhand is focused solely on communal polarisation, and said it is an indictment of the Union government's performance that the BJP is seeking votes only on religious polarisation after ten years in power. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said on November 13 and 20, the people of Jharkhand will vote decisively for continuity, communal harmony, social justice, and self-dignity. The INDIA coalition's campaign in Jharkhand is centred around its government's achievements in the last five years and its seven guarantees - ranging from enhanced food rations to honorariums for women and new degree colleges in each block, he said. PM has 'denied' Adivasis religious identity, refused Sarna code, says Cong

The Congress hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday by posing questions on Jharkhand, asking why has he "denied" Adivasis their religious identity and refused to enact the Sarna code. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said that as Prime Minister Modi holds poll rallies in Jharkhand, he should answer three questions before seeking a single vote. Where is the Korba-Lohardaga and Chatra-Gaya railway lines, Ramesh asked in a post on X. He said the people of Lohardaga and Chatra have been demanding better rail connectivity for years as it would improve locals' access to education and employment opportunities. "Sadly, the Railway Ministry has ignored their demands and made very poor progress on this front. In October 2022, the Railway Ministry sanctioned the Chatra-Gaya rail project but two years later, no progress has been made. There is no word on the Korba-Lohardaga line," he said. "How much longer must the people wait for the these crucial

Misleading people: Rajnath attacks Rahul Gandhi for caste census promise

Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi for promising of caste census if Congress is voted to power, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday accused the party of misleading people and wondered why it did not carry out the exercise when the grand old party ruled the country. Addressing an election rally in Jharkhand's Khunti, Singh also alleged that the law and order situation in the state has gone from bad to worse because of infiltration from Bangladesh under the patronisation of the JMM-led government. In 2011, a socio-economic caste census was conducted in which around 46 lakh castes, sub-castes and gotras were found. This number was so huge that the report was not even made public at that time. According to the social welfare ministry, there were around 1200 Scheduled Castes (SC), over 750 Scheduled Tribes (ST) and around 2,500 Other Backward Classes (OBCs), the veteran BJP leader said. Referring to Rahul Gandhi, Singh said that a Congress leader is misleading people by claiming to condu

Amit Shah calls Jharkhand govt 'burnt transformer', urges vote for BJP

Taking a jibe at the JMM-led coalition in Jharkhand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday equated it with a burnt transformer that "failed" to relay the power of prosperity sent through the "high tension line" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre. He also appealed to the people to vote for the BJP for peaceful Ram Navami celebrations, promising that he would participate in such festival in Hazaribag if the BJP government was voted to power. Narendra Modi's government is like an HT (high tension) power line. An HT line cannot supply electricity directly to your homes; a transformer is needed. The Hemant Soren government (Jharkhand CM) is like a burnt transformer. "The Centre sends lakhs of crores of rupees through its HT line for development, but it is not transmitted to you. The time has come to change this burnt transformer, Shah claimed addressing a poll rally in Hazaribag. Shah alleged that the JMM-led regime was involved in multiple scams, including Rs 1,000 crore in

BJP-RSS dividing people, INDIA bloc stands for love: Rahul at J'khand rally

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Centre, saying its tax structure is designed to "loot the poor". "Indian tax structure is to loot the poor. Adani pays taxes equivalent to you. Dharavi land, worth Rs 1 lakh-crore, is being handed over to him," Gandhi alleged while addressing a rally in Jharkhand's Dhanbad. He also took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging, "PM Modi travels in seaplanes, goes inside the sea, but the poor and women bear the brunt of price rise." Gandhi further alleged that Scheduled Tribes (STs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) constitute 90 per cent of India's population, but they are not represented in government institutions. "We will give to the poor funds equivalent to debt of capitalists waived by PM Modi," said Gandhi.
