Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's visit to Maharashtra's pilgrimage town of Pandharpur on Tuesday drew a sharp reaction from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, who called the former's Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) a B-team of the BJP. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will visit Pandharpur and Tuljapur temple towns during his two-day visit to Maharashtra starting from Monday, a functionary of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) said. The BRS has been trying to make inroads into Maharashtra ahead of the state Assembly polls due next year. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the distribution of 'podu' (shifting cultivation) land pattas for tribals on June 30. While Rao would kick off the distribution at the district headquarters town of Asifabad, state ministers and MLAs would distribute pattas to the beneficiaries in their respective assembly constituencies and districts. During his visit, KCR would inaugurate the newly-constructed Kumuram Bheem Asifabad District Integrated Collectorate Complex and district Superintendent of Police office on June 30, an official release said on Saturday. The state government had earlier announced the pattas distribution programme from June 24. However, it had to be postponed to June 30 due to unavoidable reasons, it said. The Telangana government on Tuesday decided to distribute 'podu' (shifting agriculture) land 'pattas' to tribal farmers from June 24 to 30. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who held a meeting with officials on 'podu' lands, state formation day celebrations and other issues, directed them to extend the 'Rythu Bandhu' farm investment support scheme to those who receive the 'podu' land 'pattas' (land certificates providing certain rights). During the meeting, the Chief Minister also decided to conduct a conference of district Collectors on May 25 to deliberate on the state formation day celebrations, an official release said. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday assured farmers that the state government would procure every grain of paddy damaged due to unseasonal rains witnessed over the last few days. He told the farmers not to worry about paddy that got wet due to the rains. The Chief Minister made it clear that the state government would pay equal price to the damaged paddy as it is paid for normal ones during the procurement process, an official release said. Rao, who held a meeting with ministers and officials, directed the agriculture department to study what policies should be adopted in future so that 'yasangi' (summer) paddy harvesting can be completed before March in view of the unseasonal rains. He asked the department to take appropriate measures to sensitise the farmers in this direction. The Chief Minister also suggested to the farmers to postpone harvesting for another three to four days in view of rains continuing in the state, it said.
