However, the impact will be company specific and relative to H-1B visa dependence, rating agency Icra said in its report. "The changes will disqualify certain positions currently eligible for H-1B visas, thereby impeding the movement of low-cost skilled labour from India and will have direct bearing on margins," said Gaurav Jain, vice-president, corporate sector ratings, Icra. The US is also contemplating on awarding visas to the most skilled or to highest-paid beneficiaries. Icra feels this move will work against the Indian IT services sector (H-1B dependent) as the average wage is approximately lower by 25 per cent compared to companies that are not dependent on H-1B visas as per estimates. The Punjab government would organise an international job fair on July 30, state minister Charanjit Singh Channi said here today. The fair would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh who would also distribute the appointment letters to the youth on the occasion, he said. Channi, the Industrial Training and Employment Generation minister, said during the fair about 5,000 youth would be given jobs in companies of various countries. The minister also said that a 3-member coordination committee has been formed comprising officers, who would collect the data of the youth interested in jobs and coordinate with the companies for providing jobs.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh today said micro, small and medium enterprises across the country created four crore jobs in the last four years. The MSME minister said a large number of employment opportunities were generated through initiatives like collateral free loans to 16 lakh entrepreneurs between 2014-18, linking 15 lakh people to the Prime Minister's Employment Guarantee Programme and setting up 94 clusters for artisans and manufacturers. The Himachal Pradesh cabinet today decided to increase the honorarium of ASHA workers of the health department from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,250. This will benefit 7,829 ASHA workers in the state, a release said. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. It also decided to open a Government Model ITI at Sansarpur Tarrace in Kangra district along-with creation of requisite staff to manage the institute. Fourteen child labourers, who worked at various hotels and roadside eateries, were today rescued by the authorities here, officials said today. The Child Protection Council, Child Welfare Society and the Labour department in a joint operation along with a police team rescued the children. The children were living in unhygienic conditions at the hotels and roadside eateries, the officials said. The team, led by District Child Protection Officer Megha Singla, raided 6-7 roadside eateries and hotels and rescued the children. Most of them are from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Singla said that the Labour department and the Child Protection Council were getting complaints in this regard. She said that cases were registered against several traders and a few others were given warning. She said that the parents of the rescued children would be informed soon and for the time being they have been kept in a children's home at the Ambala Cantonment.
Haryana government employees have to submit an undertaking that they would comply with anti-dowry laws and furnish details of articles and cash received by them from the in-laws, a statement said today. "Haryana government has decided that every serving government employee will submit the undertaking as prescribed in rule 18(2) of Haryana Civil Services (Government Employees Conduct) Rules, 2016," the statement said. It said that employees would submit the undertaking in writing that if and when they enter into any marital alliance, they would strictly comply with anti-dowry law in letter and spirit. "He would also furnish full details of all the articles of property and amounts of money received by him from his in-laws in any name or manner, whatsoever," the release further said.

The Haryana government has constituted a committee to advise further course of action in the wake of the Punjab and Haryana High Court setting aside the previous dispensation's policies to regularise the services of contractual employees. On the directions of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, a committee has been constituted to advise further course of action in respect to the situation arising out of the high court's last month judgment pertaining to the services of nearly 20,000 contractual employees, Haryana minister Krishan Kumar Bedi said here today. The committee will be headed by the chief secretary. He said the other members of the committee would be the principal secretary for finance and the Legal Remembrancer (LR). The committee will review the judgment and submit its report to the state government, the Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment said.
