UP: Cop registers complaint against himself for failing to prevent cow smuggling

In a bizarre incident, Meerut station house officer (SHO) has filed a complaint against himself and others for failing to prevent cow smuggling in the area of his jurisdiction.SHO, Rajendra Tyagi told ANI, that before taking charge of the Kharkoda police station, he framed a rule that action will be taken against erring officers."I had introduced a concept that cop will be responsible if action isn't taken against a crime. If there is any theft or murder in the area of a concerned beat constable, then the onus would be on that specific constable," Tyagi told ANI."Also, if this negligence is recorded for more than two times then action will be taken against him," he added.Till date, the SHO has filed complaints against six police constables. He had also filed a lawsuit against 19 who were caught taking bribe.

Man arrested as woman commits suicide after being raped

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped and later committed suicide, following which the accused was arrested, the police said today. The accused allegedly raped the woman after falsely promising to marry her and also filmed the act on July 6, a police official said. Following this, the woman allegedly consumed poison and was rushed to hospital, where she died on July 13 while undergoing treatment, he said. On the complaint of the victim's father, the accused was arrested and he was being interrogated, the police official said.

No bed, dirty washroom for Nawaz Sharif in jail, alleges son

Another Chilean priest is suspended amid pedophilia inquiry

Another Chilean priest has been suspended from his official duties as the archdiocese of Santiago investigates pedophilia allegations against him, in the latest abuse scandal to strike the Chilean church. The priest, Jorge Laplagne, who presided over two parishes in residential parts of Santiago, allegedly abused a child 13 years ago, the archdiocese said in a brief statement released late yesterday. While the inquiry is underway - for a maximum of 60 days - Laplagne will not be allowed to carry out any public duties at his San Crescente or Nuestra Senora de Lujan parishes, the statement said. Swimming instructor held for raping minor girl at Greater Noida school

A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a swimming instructor at a private school in Greater Noida, following which the accused was arrested today, the police said. The accused, Chandidas, raped the girl on Thursday evening while giving her swimming lessons at the school in Surajpur, Manoj Pant, the SHO of Surajpur police station, said. Kerala: Church priest moves anticipatory bail plea in SC

One of the four accused in Malankara Orthodox Church case, Father Abraham Varghese moved an anticipatory bail plea in the Supreme Court on Saturday.The Kerala High Court earlier on Wednesday had rejected the bail plea of Father Varghese.The Crime Branch in June registered a case against four priests of Malankara Orthodox Church for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Kottayam.The accused allegedly threatened to disclose the victim's confessions, made in church.The incident came to light when the victim's husband recovered an audio clip related to the case, following which investigation was initiated by the church.When the case was transferred to the Crime Branch, three of the accused priests applied for anticipatory bail in the Kerala High Court.While the Malankara Orthodox Church had suspended all the priests after the complaint was filed.One out of the four priests of accused in the case surrendered on July 12.

AK-56 seizure: Thane Police gets custody of alleged aide of Dawood Ibrahim

A Thane court today remanded an alleged aide of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim in police custody till July 17 in connection with the seizure of an AK-56 assault rifle from his Mumbai home earlier this month. Naeem Khan, who has been in jail since April 2016 for allegedly planning to kill a former gangster, was produced before the court by the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Thane Police. The court remanded Khan in police custody till July 17. The AEC had seized the AK-56, apart from a pistol and ammunition, from his home in Mumbai's Bangur Nagar area on July 6 following a tip-off. Khan's wife, Yamsin, was arrested that day under sections of the Arms Act. Two auto-lifters nabbed, 8 luxury cars recovered

Two members of a gang of auto-lifters were today arrested and eight luxury cars recovered from their possession in this district, the police said. Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna said that police intercepted a Honda City car near DLF colony during special checking of vehicles. Upon checking the registration paper, it was established that they were travelling in a stolen vehicle, following which the duo was arrested, he said. The accused were selling the stolen luxury cars in Nepal and Bhutan after changing the names of owners in registration certificates, the SSP said, adding 16 case of car-jacking are registered in Ghaziabad and Delhi. 'Bin Laden bodyguard' held in Tunisia over terror probe

A man who allegedly worked as Osama bin Laden's bodyguard has been detained in Tunisia as part of a terrorism probe after his expulsion from Germany, a prosecution spokesman said today. Known as Sami A by German authorities and Sami Idoudi in his home country, the Tunisian "has been taken into custody following a judicial decision by the prosecutor of Tunis," said spokesman Sofiene Sliti. He was wanted on "suspicion of involvement in extremist activities in Germany", following an investigation by the anti-terrorism unit, Sliti added. Police today paraded a man through the area in Bhopal where he had held a woman captive at gunpoint for more than 12 hours demanding that she marry him, as women bystanders angry over the hostage crisis assaulted him with slippers. ED attaches properties of murder accused

The Enforcement Directorate has attached assets worth around Rs 4 crore of a man who is accused of hiring contract killers to murder a Jamnagar-based lawyer. Jayesh Ranpariya, the accused, fled to Dubai using a fake passport a week before the killing, according to police. The Madras High Court has directed a lower court to complete within six months the trial against a pastor for alleged misappropriation of donations made for the construction of a church. John Elangovan had used the donation of Rs 50 lakh to buy 49.05 cents in his name instead of registering the land in the name of the church. When Elangovan's petition seeking discharge from the case came up, Justice R M T Teekaa Raman said there was sufficient material to make a prima facie case against the accused and also frame charges against him. Woman killed, son, husband injured in fire

A 68-year-old woman was charred to death while her husband and son suffered serious burn injuries when a fire broke out in Nagrota Gazina village in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district today, the police said. The deceased was identified as Shilpa Devi (28) while her injured husband and son were identified as Yogesh Kumar and Viven, respectively, SP Hamirpur, Raman Kumar Meena said. The injured were rushed to Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College at Tanda (Kangra) and their condition was stable, he said. Hospital gouged out the eyes, say parents of dead 3-year-old

Parents of a three-year-old boy have lodged a complaint with the police against the state-run SSKM hospital alleging that the eyes of their son, who died on Tuesday after an accident, were removed, police said today. The boy's parents also alleged that it was the handiwork of an an illegal organ transplant racket working at the state-run hospital, a senior officer of Kolkata Police said. SSKM Hopsital doctors denied the allegations saying the boy's eyelids were stitched up owing to the grave injury that he had suffered in the accident. The accident took place on July 8 when the boy was hit by a car when he was playing on the road near his home at Kamarhati in the northern fringes of the city. He was taken to a local government hospital and then to SSKM hospital next day where he died on July 10. After post mortem, the body was handed to his parents on July 11, his family sources said. Nigerian held with 25 grams of heroin

Himachal Pradesh Police have arrested a Nigerian from Delhi for allegedly supplying drugs and seized 25.46 grams of heroin from his possession, an official said today. The accused, identified as Kra Basile, was arrested by a Special Investigative Team (SIT) here, said SP (Shimla) Omapati Jamwal.
