A 55-year-old deaf and mute woman, who was found roaming in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, was later reunited with her family, the police said today. Kamlesh Kumari, a resident of Langate area in Kathua district, was found roaming in Smailpur village near Bari Brahmana yesterday, a police official said. He said the woman was brought to the police station but was unable to give any information and she was found to be deaf and mute. The police succeeded in tracing her family and she was handed over to her brother Jagdev Singh after proper verification and completion of all legal formalities, the police official said.
Two persons, including one militant, were arrested from different areas of Manipur, police said. One of them is a member of the proscribed militant outfit People Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK- Progressive group) and another one is a member of an armed gang. A 26-year-old woman committed suicide by consuming poison after a BSF jawan allegedly raped her on the pretext of marriage here, police said today. The woman consumed the poison on July 6 and died at a hospital yesterday, Station House Officer (SHO), Kotwali, Anil Kaperwan, said. Her father, in his complaint, said his daughter was raped by the BSF jawan, who threatened to upload the video of the act on the internet, he said. The complainant also said that the accused had raped her on the pretext of marriage and was harassing her, the SHO said. The matter is being probed, the officer said.
A 35-year-old physiotherapist was stabbed to death at her home in the Radha Puram colony area here, police said today. The incident occurred last evening, they said, adding that the victim, Khushboo Agrawal, may have been acquainted with the assailant. "All the aspects are being investigated. However, the assailant appears to be a known person," Additional Director General of Police (Zone) Ajai Anand said. Khushboo Agrawal's husband, Sanjeev Agrawal, and daughter, Sanvi, were away at the time of the murder, he said. Neighbours, alerted by her cries for help, had rushed to her rescue but the assailant managed to escape, officials said, adding that they managed to snatch a bag he was carrying. The victim used to run a clinic from the couple's rented apartment. A hunt was on to nab the miscreant, Senior Superintendent of Police Babloo Kumar said.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra dismissed Justice Minister Salvador Heresi yesterday after the publication of a series of audio recordings that sparked a scandal over the sale of sentences and influence peddling. A man has been arrested for allegedly giving his wife triple talaq over phone and locking her up for a month without food and water, leading to her death, police said today. Razia was rescued from her husband's home here two months back, but her condition did not improve, her family had said. She died on Tuesday while being taken to a hospital in Lucknow. "Her husband Naeem who runs a chappal (slipper) factory in Delhi was arrested yesterday and sent to jail," Superintendent of Police (City) Abhinandan Singh said. A New Jersey woman has been charged with hacking into singer-actor Selena Gomez's email account. According to Variety, Susan Atrach, 21, of Ridgefield Park, New Jersery, was charged with 11 felony counts, including five counts of identity theft and five counts of computer hacking. She faces up to nine years and eight months in prison if convicted, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. Prosecutors said Atrach allegedly hacked into accounts belonging to Gomez and an associate, from June 2015 through February 2016. A 35-year-old person was stoned to death in Bhokaheri village here allegedly by a man who accused him of eloping with his wife, police said today. The incident took place last evening. The deceased was identified as Om Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Bhopa, B S Yadav said. He said a case was registered against five persons, including the woman's husband Chandrapal. The SHO said Chandrapal, who has been arrested, had accused Singh of eloping with his wife three years ago. His wife has not returned to him since then, he said. A wanted criminal was today killed and two others were arrested in an encounter with the Punjab Police in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district, police said. Three persons were arrested for allegedly harassing some women passengers on board a train at Khatoli in the district, police said today. Some men yesterday entered the train's bogey, where the women were sitting in reserved seats, of the Ahmedabad-Haridwar, Inspector of Railway Protection Force V K Singh said. They tried to occupy the reserved seats from women and allegedly harassed them, he said. A case was against three men, who were later arrested, police said.
