Naqeebullah murder: Pak cop brought to anti-terrorism court

SC orders live telecast of floor test at Karnataka Assembly
The Supreme Court today ordered live streaming of the floor test at Karnataka Assembly for Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to prove his majority in the House. "Live broadcast of floor test will be the best possible way to ensure transparency in the proceedings,"a bench comprising justices A K Sikri, S A Bobde and Ashok Bhushan said. The bench said secretary of the Legislative Assembly will record the proceedings of the House. It said that several local channels will be provided the live feed of the proceedings so that they can also be in a position to telecast simultaneously. The bench termed as "fair" the suggestion of Karnataka governor's counsel that the floor test be telecast live.

After Texas, one dead, two wounded in Georgia shooting

Police: Mom apparently jumps to death with 7-year-old son
Law enforcement officials say a former Playboy centerfold model who was involved in a custody battle apparently jumped with her 7-year-old son from a hotel in midtown Manhattan and both died. According to law enforcement officials, the pair checked into the penthouse suite of the Gotham Hotel on the 25th floor the night before. They were found on a second-floor balcony at about 8:15 a.m. Friday by workers, who called police. Officials identified the woman as Stephanie Adams and her son as Vincent. The officials weren't authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. Hotel staff said they had no information. The investigation is ongoing. The Gotham Hotel is located on 46th street, about four blocks from Grand Central Terminal.
Unidentified body found in Delhi's Jahanpanha forest
The body of a man, in his 20s, was found in south Delhi's Jahanpanha forest today, the police said. There was an injury mark on the head and the body was decaying, they said. It is suspected that the body was lying there for four-five days. Police said that an autopsy will help ascertain the cause of death.
Indian-origin student who hacked computers to change his grades convicted of 4 felonies
An Indian-origin former University of Kansas student who admitted stealing professors' computer passwords to change his grades has been convicted of four felonies. Varun Sarja, 20, of Olathe, pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of identity theft and two counts of unlawful computer acts. Fourteen other felony charges were dropped as part of the plea deal, The Lawrence Journal-World reported . With no prior criminal history, Sarja will face probation under the state's sentencing guidelines, Douglas County District Court Judge Kay Huff said. He's scheduled to be sentenced July 2. A man was shot in the leg allegedly by two persons, including a juvenile, following a fight over a loan of Rs 700, the police said today. Delhi Police on Friday questioned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for three hours in connection with the Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash assault case.Soon after the interrogation at Kejriwal's residence, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Harinder Singh said the chief minister was co-operative during the interrogation but evaded some questions.Singh told media, "We questioned the Delhi CM for three hours. Mentally challenged girl allegedly raped; accused on run
Police in Palghar district of Maharashtra today registered a case against a man for allegedly raping a mentally challenged and blind girl, his neighbour, on several occasions. Arnala police, who are probing the case, have launched a manhunt for the accused (whose name was not disclosed), after registering a case of rape under section 376 under the IPC and offences under the Protection of Children from the Sexual Offences Act. As per the complaint lodged by the victim's parents, the accused raped the girl, a Virar resident, on many occasions when she was alone at home since August 2017. Court refuses bail to DPIL father-son promoter duo
A special CBI court here today rejected the bail pleas of Suresh Bhatnagar and his son Amit Bhatnagar, the promoters of Vadodara-based Diamond Power Infrastructure (DPIL), which is accused of duping banks of a whopping Rs 2,654 crore. CBI judge C K Chauhan junked the bail application of Amit and the temporary bail plea of his father Suresh, who had sought relief on medical grounds. The court had rejected the bail application of Suresh's second son, Sumit, earlier this month. Amit pleaded in his application that no complaint of fraud had been received against the promoters, but the CBI registered an FIR on its own. Suresh had sought temporary bail in the case, saying he was suffering from various age-related ailments.
