A man here has alleged that BJP MLA Sangeet Som has duped him of Rs 53 lakh, a charge the lawmaker has denied, saying "it was being done under a conspiracy by some local SP leaders". Rahul Singh, a resident of Rajpur Momin, in a complaint to the additional director general of police (Meerut Zone) alleged that he had given the money to Som for a partnership in a brick-kiln. However, official documentation for the transaction and partnership was not completed by Som and thus, he "duped me of Rs 53 lakh", Singh alleged yesterday. The complainant claimed that he had arranged the money by selling his buffaloes and taking a bank loan by mortgaging his farm land. An Indian man has been jailed for three months by a Dubai court for sending email videos of pornographic content to his friend's 13-year-old daughter and molesting her during home visits. The teenage girl's mother, also from India, was checking out on her email when she realised that her daughter had received a number of e-mails containing porn clips in August 2017. When the mother confronted her daughter, she told her that the 27-year-old family friend had been constantly touching her indecently during visits and had emailed her indecent clips, the Gulf News reported. In February, the Dubai Court of First Instance jailed the Indian defendant for three months for molesting the teenager and sending her porn clips to her email account. The accused had appealed his primary judgement and asked the Appeal Court to acquit him. But he lost his appeal yesterday and was sentenced to three months in jail, the report said.

The Jammu Bar Association on Thursday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)-led inquiry into the Kathua rape case, contending that the probe by the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Crime Branch was not fair."We have always maintained that the guilty should be punished and the fair probe should be carried out, that is why we want the case to be handed over to CBI. The Haryana government has ordered a probe into alleged illegal sale of 46 acres of panchayat land in two villages here to private builders. The state government ordered the probe based on a complaint received by the Chief Minister's Grievance Cell, officials said. The alleged scam came to the notice of additional principle secretary to the chief minister Rakesh Gupta and OSD to the chief minister Bhupenswar Dayal during scrutiny of complaints on Tuesday, they said.
