Mexican authorities say two priests were shot dead and four people were wounded when their vehicle was attacked overnight in the southern state of Guerrero. Guerrero security spokesman Roberto Alvarez says in a statement that authorities received a report in the pre-dawn hours of a white pickup with bullet holes on a highway. The statement says the truck was traveling from the town of Juliantla, near the colonial city of Taxco, when it was suddenly blocked by another vehicle and unknown attackers opened fire before fleeing. It said "two priests' lives were taken" in the attack. One of the wounded was said to be in serious condition, while the other three were not in danger. Guerrero is a hotbed of drug trafficking and organized crime.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Monday arrested a man for carrying a country-made pistol and 12 live rounds at Dwarka Mor Metro Station in Delhi.The accused has been identified as Neeraj Kumar Patel, a resident of Patna, according to officials sources.During the baggage screening of the passenger, a CISF official noticed pistol and ammunition on the monitor.Immediately, he stopped the conveyer belt as well as the passenger and informed the matter to his senior.The bag was physically checked in the presence of the passenger and the firearm and live rounds were recovered.
A criminal, carrying a cash reward of 20,000, and a constable were today injured in an encounter near Bandi village, a police official said. The criminal was arrested following the encounter, senior superintendent of police Swapnil Mamgai said. Mamgai said that the injured have been hospitalised.
A businessman was today shot at when he allegedly tried to resist a robbery bid in Vasundhara, police said. The man, a vegetable wholesaler, was shot at around 5 am while he was going to the market along with his father in his car, they said. Senior superintendent of police H N Singh said that the victim was carrying Rs 3 lakh. When their car reached at the Vasundhara-Indirapuram intersection, a swift overtook their car and allegedly forced them to stop. Two of the five assailants smashed the window pane of the car and took them on gun point, the official said. The victim tried to resist their robbery bid when the robbers allegedly shot at him in his mouth and snatched their bag, he said. The man was admitted to a hospital, where he is recovering, he said. The Crime Investigation Department of the Telangana Police today arrested a person wanted in connection with the 2002 bomb blast in front of a Sai Baba temple in Dilsukhnagar here, officials said. Shafiq M, was deported from Doha in Qatar to Delhi, and a police team brought him from the national capital to here, they said. Police officials said that he was produced before a court here which remanded him into judicial custody. Two persons were killed and over 20 others were injured when terrorists had detonated an improvised explosive device near the temple on November 21, 2002. Police said that Shafiq had been charged with conspiracy in the case.
A police complaint has been filed about two Dalit girls, aged five and seven, allegedly having been raped in a deserted school building in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district, officials said today. Superintendent of Police Pravin Ranjan Singh said a medical examination, however, did not confirm rape. According to the complaint, the incident took place late last night at Malagarh village when the alleged victims had gone to attend a wedding. It is suspected that someone who attended the wedding could be behind the alleged incident, police said, adding that the video footage of the ceremony was being scanned to identify the accused.

A 24-year-old suspected criminal, carrying a cash reward of Rs 70,000 on his head, was today nabbed by police following an exchange of fire near Okhla Mandi in south east Delhi, police said. The accused, Munnawar, was arrested by a team of special staff around 4.30 AM, Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner Of Police (south east), said. The father of a seven-year-old boy, who was allegedly killed inside a private school in the Bhondsi area here, today expressed disappointment over the contents of the chargesheet filed by the CBI at a sessions court here. Barun Thakur, the victim's father, said the central probe agency had failed to file a strong chargesheet and that it was yet to conclude its probe in the case. "We are very disappointed. We expected the CBI to file a strong chargesheet," he said. Thakur's lawyer Sushil Tekriwal said the CBI, being a mature and premier investigating agency of the country, should have concluded its probe in the case. "It (the CBI) has not named the school management and others for negligence. The CBI should not be influenced by the high and mighty and conclude the probe expeditiously by bringing to book all those responsible," he said. The Brother of Kanpur-based journalist Navin Gupta, who was killed in November last year, has demanded a CBI probe into the case. Navin, who was working for a Hindi daily, was shot dead on November 30, 2017 by unidentified assailants near the Nagar Palika market in Billhaur, 60 km from Kanpur. He was sprayed with bullets when he came out of a public toilet. "Police has failed to crack the case so far," the slain journalist's brother Nitin Gupta said, adding the case should be handed over to the CBI. The CBI today arrayed Ashok Kumar, a bus conductor of a private school in the Bhondsi area, as one of the prime witnesses in its chargesheet in the alleged murder case of a seven-year-old student. Kumar was arrested by the Gurgaon police as the main accused in the case. However, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today gave him a clean chit and sought his discharge from the case. The central probe agency has named 127 people as witnesses in the case, of whom 19 have been arrayed as prime witnesses, including two judicial officers. A prime witness is one who is directly associated with the case and his version substantially helps to corroborate the prosecution's arguments. The CBI today filed a charge sheet against a teenager for the murder of a seven- year-old boy at a Gurgaon private school but remained silent about the allegations against two top officials of the institutions arrested by the police. The charge sheet also had no mention of Ryan Pinto, Augustine Francis Pinto and Grace Pinto, promoters and top management executives of the private school who were granted anticipatory bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on October 7 last year. Francis Thomas, regional head of the group of schools, and HR head Jeyus Thomas were arrested on September 11 last year for alleged negligence in ensuring the safety and security of children in school. In the charge sheet, however, the agency made a reference to their arrest but was silent about the allegations against them. They were also released on bail on October 7 last year. Advocate Sushil Tekriwal, appearing for the victim, said the investigation was still under progress.
A Delhi court has directed the Delhi Police to file its response by February 7 on the bail plea of Bilal Ahmed Kawa, a suspect in the 2000 Red Fort attack case. Additional Sessions Judge Sidharth Sharma issued notice to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police on the application moved by Kawa, currently in judicial custody, in which he has claimed that no purpose will be served by keeping him in further custody. Kawa was arrested on January 10 in the national capital in a joint operation by the Delhi Police and the Gujarat Anti- Terrorism Squad (ATS). Police alleged that Kawa had received Rs 29.5 lakh from Pakistan to fund the terror attack on the historic Red Fort on December 22, 2000. The police told the trial court that Kawa, one of the conspirators in the attack, had been absconding for 17 years and was declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
