The governor noted that such an incident had occurred in the state for the first time in the last 9-10 months and described it as "shameful". District authorities in Kasganj, which witnessed clashes between two communities last week, said the situation was returning to normal even as four more persons were arrested in connection with the violence. At least three shops, two buses and a car were torched after a youth was killed in clashes following stone-pelting by a mob on a motorcycle rally taken out to celebrate Republic Day. An electrical engineer has been arrested by Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for allegedly sharing child pornographic content online with different persons in four other countries. The FIA initiated the action on the complaint of National Child Exploitation Centre, Interpol in Ottawa, Canada. It wrote to the government here about involvement of a Pakistani in sharing child pornography content online with people in the US, New Zealand, Australia and Canada. "Acting upon information, an FIA cyber crime team yesterday raided the residence of Taimur Maqsood in Jhang city some 200-km from Lahore and arrested him," FIA Lahore cyber crime head Khalid Anis told reporters. He said Interpol Canada had arrested a man involved in this heinous crime. "That suspect told Canadian authorities that Maqsood was member of their network in Pakistan who transfer the child porn content online," he said. A 28-year-old woman and her two-and-a-half-year-old son died and a man was injured after their car caught fire in Rabupura area, police said today. The incident took place last night when a man, identified as Madan Pal Singh, came to his ancestral home in Rabupura area along with his daughter-in-law and grandson, station house officer Rajvir Singh Chauhan said. Around 11pm they were returning to Faridabad when their car caught fire near Faleda village due to short circuit, he said. Police and fire brigade team reached the spot and controlled the fire, but the woman and her son died of burn injuries, Chauhan said. The man sustained burn injuries and was admitted to a hospital, they said, adding that his condition was stated to be critical.
The head priest of a temple was killed and century-old idols, worth lakhs of rupees, were stolen by unidentified miscreants yesterday in Bihar's Begusarai district, police said today. The robbers beat Mahendra Das alias Muso (70) to death with a baton before fleeing with three idols of Ram, Janki and Lakshman, apparently made of ashtadhatu (amalgamation of eight metals), at Bhagofua village in Naya Gaon police station area of the district, SHO Mukesh Kumar said. "The exact value of the idols could not be ascertained but villagers claim that the idols were made of ashtadhatu and weighed around 10kg each," he said. Police have started its investigation in the case, he said, adding that the priest's body has been sent to the sadar hospital for post-mortem. The Begusarai incident comes two days after another attack on a head priest in Vaishali district. The decapitated head of a 25-year-old man was found in Nalgonda town of Telangana today, police said. Some locals spotted the severed head near a religious place around 5.30 am and alerted police, a senior police official said. The deceased was identified as P Ramesh, aged about 25, who worked as a driver, Nalgonda Deputy Superintendent of Police S Sudhakar told PTI over phone. "Since last evening his family members hadn't seen Ramesh," he said. While police have registered a case of murder, sniffer dogs are being used to find the rest of the body, a police official said.
Five men wearing police uniforms allegedly kidnapped an 18-year-old girl from a village in the district, an official said. One of the accused has been identified, though the police is yet to trace the girl, he said. A man has been arrested for allegedly strangulating his wife to death and throwing her body into a canal in the district, police said here today. The body of 27-year-old woman, identified as Baby was found from the canal in Ratenpuri Police Station area on January 21. Atul Kumar,(27), has confessed to killing his wife suspecting her character, said SHO Virender Kumar. The couple was living in Roorkee. The accused brought the woman here on January 21 and after killing and throwing her body into the canal, he lodged a missing complaint, the SHO said. However, during investigation, Kumar was found to be the culprit, he added.

The city civic body has set up a committee to inquire into the death of a man after he allegedly got sucked into an MRI machine and inhaled the liquid oxygen that leaked out of a cylinder he was carrying. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is also planning to issue stricter guidelines to all civic-run hospitals in view of the incident, an official said. Authorities at the Nair Hospital, where the incident occurred, said they were cooperating with the police in its investigation. Rajesh Maru (32), carrying a liquid oxygen cylinder, was killed on Saturday evening when he was yanked into the jaws of the MRI machine and inhaled the gas that leaked out of the container, his family said. The police, however, said Maru was killed when he inhaled excessive oxygen that oozed out of the cylinder when he entered the MRI room with a relative, who was there to undergo the scan. Malaysia's top court said in a landmark decision today that both parents must consent to the religious conversion of a minor, ruling unanimously in favour of a Hindu woman whose ex-husband converted their three children to Islam without telling her. The ruling ended a nine-year legal tussle for M Indira Gandhi, whose former husband became a Muslim and converted their three children in 2009. He also snatched their daughter, then 11 months old, from the family home. She won custody of the three children and challenged their conversions in civil courts of Malaysia's dual-court system. A lower court annulled them, but the Court of Appeal overturned the ruling, saying civil courts had no jurisdiction over Islamic conversions. The ruling was appealed to the nation's highest court. The five-member panel in the Federal Court found the children's conversions unlawful as they were done without Gandhi's consent. "This is a landmark decision and a victory for all Malaysians," said .

A 60-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his daughter-in-law at a village in Odisha's Kendrapara district, police said today. The accused, Khirod Kumar Bhadra, a native of Badanakana in Rajnagar police station area, was arrested yesterday for the crime that was allegedly committed the day before, a senior police officer said. He was booked under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape) on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman, the officer said, adding that police are investigating the case.
