Manchester United's fifth place finish in the English Premier League may have gotten its manager fired, but the team's bottom line is just fine, according to a new report by accounting firm KPMG.United, which is expected to name Louis van Gaal's dugout replacement soon, is worth euro 2.9 billion ($3.2 billion), the report said. It gives the club the same value as Real Madrid, which plays crosstown rival Atletico Madrid for the Champions League title on Saturday.Basing its valuations on publicly available financial information, KPMG found the 32 teams included in its study had a combined value of euro 26.3 billion. One-third of that value is concentrated in three teams: United, Real and FC Barcelona (euro 2.8 billion).At $3.2 billion, the Reds would be worth more than the stock market suggests.
