Arvind Kejriwal govt calls special session of Delhi Assembly Friday

A special session of the Delhi Assembly will be held Friday amid a political slugfest over action by central probe agencies in the Kejriwal government's excise policy and the AAP accusing the BJP of trying to lure its MLAs. The Assembly session is scheduled to be held from 11 am on August 26, according to a document issued by the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP's attempt to "topple" his government was a "serious issue". The matter was in the AAP's political Affairs Committee on Wednesday evening. In a meeting of the committee held at Kejriwal's residence, the panel condemned the BJP's alleged efforts to lure its MLAs. The AAP leaders have alleged that four MLAs were offered money by the BJP to quit the party. The ED has registered a money laundering case against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and others to probe the alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise policy after taking

"They (BJP leaders) told our MLAs that if they do not accept the offer and join the BJP, they will also have to face false cases, the CBI and the ED like (Delhi Deputy Chief Minister) Manish Sisodia is facing," he added. The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kamrup, Monmee Sarma, issued the summons to Sisodia for allegedly making defamatory statements against Sarma. Sisodia, referring to media reports at a press conference in New Delhi on June 4, had said that while the Assam government procured PPE kits for Rs 600 a piece from other companies, Sarma gave urgent supply orders to the firms of his wife and son's business partners for Rs 990 a piece. He promised quality education and health care to the people of Gujarat if his Aam Aadmi Party government comes to power in the state.

Delhi: Sisodia claims Look Out Circular issued against him; CBI denies

Facing the heat in the excise policy "corruption" case, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday claimed the CBI issued a Look Out Circular against him, but officials said the agency has not taken such action "as of now" against any of the accused. While the AAP intensified its attack on the Modi government, accusing it of playing the "CBI-ED" game every morning, the BJP targeted Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying he is getting nervous as the roots of the scam are leading to his doorstep, and asserted that no one is above the law including the Aam Aadmi Party convenor. Claiming the CBI found "nothing" during the raid at his residence on Friday, Sisodia said the agency was doing a drama of issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him when he is "roaming freely" in Delhi and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he is unable to find him. However, officials said the CBI has also not felt the need to issue any LOC against public servants so far because they cannot lea
