Wheels India, manufacturer of wheels for trucks, tractors, passenger vehicles and construction equipment, expects the domestic wheel business to pick up during the second half of the year, according to a top official. The city-based company had registered a 24.2 per cent rise in its net profit for the April-June 2023 quarter at Rs 13.3 crore, from Rs 10.7 crore registered in the same period of last year. Revenues during the quarter under review grew by 6.74 per cent to Rs 1,124 crore, from Rs 1,053 crore recorded in the corresponding period of last year. "In Q1 amidst a muted domestic market, exports were strong at 25 per cent of our sales. There was a strong demand for buses in the latter part of Q1," Wheels India Ltd MD, Srivats Ram said. "We believe that the domestic wheel business would pick up post monsoon, in the second half," he said on the outlook for the company. The Lok Sabha will debate the no-confidence between August 8 and 10 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to reply to the opposition-sponsored move on the last day. The decision was taken at the Lok Sabha's business advisory committee (BAC) meeting as constituents of the INDIA alliance walked out in protest of the debate not being taken up on priority. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday declared a holiday for all government and private schools and colleges on July 27 after the IMD issued a "red alert" for the metropolis. Iqbal Singh Chahal, municipal commissioner and administrator of the BMC, issued a statement about it on Wednesday night. "In view of the red alert issued for Mumbai, the BMC has declared a holiday for all municipal, government-run and private primary, secondary and higher secondary schools and all colleges in the city and suburbs on Thursday as safety of students is a top priority," the statement said. Cautioning that there is an increased risk of contracting water-borne diseases such as diarrhoea, dysentery and cholera in the rainy season, the Delhi government has issued an advisory mentioning dos and don't . The city health department's advisory was published in several leading dailies on Friday. The advisory mentions the dos and don't that need to be followed in view of the monsoon season. Water-borne diseases spread due to consumption of contaminated water, ice or food. The advisory has asked people to eat home-cooked fresh food, maintain good personal hygiene, use ORS solutions to prevent dehydration and visit a health facility in case of vomiting, jaundice or fever. It has also asked people to not consume roadside uncooked food, such as cut-fruits. The advisory also asks them to not urinate or defecate in the open.
