F1 roars into Vegas with concerts, celebs and, eventually, actual race

Racing in Texas and then Mexico City and then Brazil, followed by a quick trip back to the United Kingdom before finally arriving in Las Vegas, Formula One driver Alex Albon could not stop thinking about his golf game. He felt up to speed on the Las Vegas street circuit after turning about 500 laps on a simulator. His golf game? Not as sharp. Albon was among the four drivers who competed in The Netflix Cup," a made-for-TV golf match that paired F1 drivers with golfers from Full Swing. The streaming giant's first foray into live sports coverage kicked off a week of parties and concerts ahead of Saturday night's race down the Las Vegas Strip. We've had three races, been in Mexico, Brazil and the United States, and all I was worried about was this match, said Albon, who upon landing in Las Vegas played a round with a golf coach and his girlfriend, Lily Muni, a player on the LPGA Tour. The match at Wynn Golf Club was won by Justin Thomas and partner Carlos Sainz of Ferrari, who prompt

Remembering Mukesh on 100th birthday: Hindi cinema's golden era legend

If there is a song which best describes legendary singer Mukesh, it is his own track "Kisi ki muskurahaton pe ho nisaar," says his son Nitin Mukesh, remembering his music icon-father on his birth centenary. Born in Delhi on July 22, 1923 as Mukesh Chand Mathur, the artist was part of the famous triumvirate of singers alongside Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar, who ruled the Hindi cinema playback scene for decades. Known for evergreen hits such as "Mera joota hai Japani", "Jeena yahan marna yahaan", "Kabhi kabhie mere dil mein" and "Kai baar yuhi dekha hai", Mukesh was "down to earth" and that never changed, said his son Nitin Mukesh. "One thing that stays most in my memory is his humility and down-to-earth nature, despite being such a famous man and a legend. It was not an act he was putting on. It came naturally to him, Nitin Mukesh told PTI. He was a simple man and that reflected even in his birthday celebrations which were always a private affair, he added. His birthdays used to

Music that contains AI-created elements is eligible, says Grammys CEO

Last month, the Recording Academy announced a series of changes to the Grammy Awards to better reflect an evolving music industry. Of those newly instituted guidelines, protocols involving technological advancements in machine learning sparked headlines: Only human creators could win the music industry's highest honour in a decision aimed at the use of artificial intelligence in popular music. A work that contains no human authorship is not eligible in any category, the rules read in part. As the music industry continues to come to terms with this new technology, so too will the Grammys, says Recording Academy CEO and President Harvey Mason jr. Here's the super easy, headline statement: AI, or music that contains AI-created elements is absolutely eligible for entry and for consideration for Grammy nomination. Period, Mason told The Associated Press. What's not going to happen is we are not going to give a Grammy or Grammy nomination to the AI portion. If an AI or voice modelling .
