Centre to enhance sale of SHG products on e-commerce portals: Minister

The Centre on Friday launched an e-commerce portal for marketing products made by women of self-help groups (SHGs), and said efforts were underway to have at least 25 per cent of all sales by them through online. Union Minister of State for Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste inaugurated the Saras Food Festival and said the government will take steps to establish Saras stalls by women SHGs in all state capitals, major cities and metros, airports and railway stations for widening the reach of marketing, the ministry said in an official statement. He also launched the e-commerce portal, www.esaras.in, for better and more effective marketing of the products prepared by women of self-help groups and said, "efforts are on to have at least 25 per cent of all sales by women self-help groups through e-commerce portals annually." Fashion retailer V-Mart Retail to acquire online marketplace LimeRoad

Fashion retailer V-Mart Retail Ltd on Monday said it will acquire online marketplace LimeRoad, in a move which will help the company expand its presence in the omni-channel space. The company has signed a "business transfer agreement with A M Marketplaces (LimeRoad) and certain other parties for the acquisition of its LimeRoad business as a going concern on a slump sale basis," said V-Mart Retail in a regulatory filing. Over the nature of consideration, V-Mart said: "for the acquisition of LimeRoad business, the company shall pay lump sum cash consideration of Rs 31.12 crore, which amount shall be subject to adjustments as mutually agreed between the parties." Moreover, V-Mart is also "acquiring assets worth Rs 14.61 crore and assuming current liabilities of Rs 36.26 crore", which shall be subject to adjustments as mutually agreed between them, it added. Logistics firm Delhivery on Friday announced its plans to hire over 75,000 staff for seasonal jobs over the next one-and-a-half month and expand its parcel sortation capacity by 1.5 million shipments per day.
