Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf ruled out of Pakistan's T20I series in Bangladesh

Vice-captain Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf were on Tuesday ruled out of Pakistan's three-match T20I series against Bangladesh later this month as the selectors included two uncapped players while recalling two all-rounders. Haris suffered a hamstring injury while playing in the Major League Cricket in the USA, whereas there is no set timeline known for Shadab's return after he had a surgery on his shoulder in the UK. The selectors once again decided against picking senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi who have been sidelined from the format. The squad includes uncapped pace bowlers Ahmed Daniyal and Salman Mirza while all-rounders Mohammad Nawaz and Hussain Talat were recalled. Salman Ali Agha will continue as captain. Pakistan will also be without fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr, who were ruled out due to fitness issues. The series will be played from July 20 to 24 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka with a one-day gap

PCB raises central player salaries, domestic players see pay cuts

Pakistan's centrally-contracted cricketers are expected to get big hikes, while the domestic players will see a drop in their earnings for the 2025-26 season. A well-placed source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said the recent PKR 18.30 billion budget approved by the Board of Governors includes PKR 1,173.49 million for the Pakistan team's centrally-contracted players and retainers, which is a 37 per cent increase. The source added that the list of players who will get these contracts will also be increased from 25 to 30 this fiscal year. This despite the fact that in the last fiscal period, Pakistan's performance in all formats has been disappointing. They failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the ICC T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy at home. In Test cricket, Pakistan was whipped 0-2 by Bangladesh at home and played a 1-1 draw at home against the West Indies. The source said that the budget for the contracts awarded to domestic players had been reduced by nearly

Pakistan's vice-captain Shadab faces lengthy layoff due to shoulder injury

Pakistan's white-ball vice-captain Shadab Khan is facing a three-month layoff because of a recurring shoulder injury that will require a surgery. A source in the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Tuesday that the PCB's medical panel has advised the leg-spin all-rounder to undergo a surgery for the chronic shoulder problem. "He is likely to fly to London for the surgery very soon and he will require at least three months rehabilitation," the source added. Shadab, one of Pakistan's most experienced white-ball players, was appointed vice-captain earlier this year and played in the recent home series against Bangladesh which Pakistan won 3-0. The source said that because of the shoulder problem, Shadab was now certain to miss out on the coming white-ball series in Bangladesh and West Indies and also a home assignment against Afghanistan. "If the Asia Cup is held in September, Shadab will also miss that event," the source said. The 26-year-old has appeared in six Tests, 70 ODIs and 112 T

Salman Ali Agha in line to become all-format captain for Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to make some sweeping changes in its national team set-up with Salman Ali Agha in line to become all-format captain, replacing Shan Masood as the skipper of the Test side. Besides the change in captaincy, the board will also be announcing the formation of an "observatory" committee after Eid holidays, a concept meant to keep a close watch on cricket developments including in the national team and forward recommendations to the board's chairman. A source in the board said that former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and ex-pacer Sikander Bakht had been called to Lahore for a meeting. "The two were informed about the decision to form the observatory committee and offered positions on it," the source said. "Some other players will also be on this committee." He said PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, after discussions with his close aides including new white ball head coach Mike Hesson, is also considering redefining the role of the national selection ...

PCB won't have DRS for home series against Bangladesh cricket team

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided against using DRS technology during the three-match T20 home series against Bangladesh due to cost issues. A reliable PCB source said due to the lack of interest in the series which begins Wednesday the Board had decided against having the DRS technology. "It is not cost effective for the board or broadcasters to have DRS technology in the series," the source said. Bangladesh are missing some key players due to various reasons including their experienced left arm pacer Mustafizur Rehman who injured his thumb while playing in the IPL. A few Bangladesh players and members of the support staff have also opted out of the tour because of security concerns with Liton Das leading them in the three matches. Bangladesh reached Lahore after suffering an embarrassing 2-1 loss against UAE in Sharjah in a T20 series. The PCB and broadcasters also didn't have DRS technology for the second phase of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which was held after

PCB plans resumption of suspended Pakistan Super League in Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing to resume the suspended Pakistan Super League (PSL) even if the foreign recruits do not come back and host the final before Bangladesh arrive for a T20 series later this month. A reliable PCB source said following the 'ceasefire' with India, the PCB plans to resume the PSL by May 16. "We have eight games, including the final, remaining in the PSL and the plan is to resume by May 15-16 with or without foreign players and wrap up the event," a PCB source said. The official said some of the overseas players are still in Dubai and some had left for their homes. "Franchises have been told to ask the foreign players to return for the remaining matches but the final decision is with them and their boards," he said. "The PCB is in touch with the Bangladesh Cricket Board and both are monitoring the situation but with the situation limping back to normalcy the series is on now." Bangladesh are scheduled to play matches in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and

Pakistan Super League postponed amid ongoing military conflict with India

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday postponed the Pakistan Super League (PSL) indefinitely, hours after announcing that the T20 tournament has been shifted to the UAE because of the ongoing military conflict with India. The BCCI has also suspended the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to cross border tension between the neighbouring nations. "The decision to postpone has been taken pursuant to advice received from the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who has kept in view the reckless aggression from India that has escalated to a point where national attention and sentiments are rightly focused on the courageous efforts of the Armed Forces of Pakistan who are vociferously upholding the sovereignty of our beloved Pakistan," PCB said in a statement said "The PCB and its players stand resolutely in solidarity with the families of the martyrs and our security personnel defending the nation," the statement added further. However it has been learnt that Emirates

Pahalgam attack: Kaneria blames Pak PM for shielding, nurturing terrorists

Former spinner Danish Kaneria has accused Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of "sheltering and nurturing terrorists", suggesting that his country has a role in the Pahalgam terror attack in India which led to 26 deaths. In a post on X, the 44-year-old UK-based Kaneria said that Sharif has maintained a stoic silence on the attack, which is indicative of Pakistan's role. Sharif may not have personally commented on the gruesome incident but the Pakistan Foreign Office has expressed concern over the loss of life. "If Pakistan truly has no role in the Pahalgam terror attack, why hasn't Prime Minister @CMShehbaz condemned it yet? Why are your forces suddenly on high alert? Because deep down, you know the truth - you're sheltering and nurturing terrorists. Shame on you," Kaneria, who was banned for alleged spot-fixing in English county cricket, posted on X.
