LS Polls: Shiela Dikshit, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli among early morning voters

Early voters in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls included a number of heavyweight candidates and political leaders with the likes of Sheila Dikshit, Ajay Maken, Gautam Gambhir, and Virat Kohli exercising their franchise.With votes being cast for all the seven seats in Delhi and 52 parliamentary constituencies across 6 states, politicians urged voters to turn out in large numbers.Ajay Maken, Congress candidate from New Delhi constituency against BJP's Meenakshi Lekhi, said that the contest in the national capital is not triangular as AAP is not even in the fray. President Kovind casts his vote

President Ram Nath Kovind, the first citizen of the country, exercised his franchise at a voting booth in Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday. Kovind along with his wife Savita cast his vote at the booth. Manipur: Army arrests five cadres of PREPAK, 1 each of KYKL, UNLF

The Eastern Command of Indian Army has apprehended five cadres of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), and one each of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and United National Liberation Front (UNLF) at Kamjong in Manipur.The said cadres were arrested on May 9 and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was seized from their possession."#NEOps. Security Forces #EasternCommand apprehended 5 cadres of PREPAK, one cadre each of KYKL & UNLF & recovered a huge cache of arms & ammunition in Kamjong, Manipur on 09th May," Eastern Command tweeted.The arrested persons have been handed over to the police for further investigation.

LS polls: Scindia among early ones to cast vote in MP

Polling for eight Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh commenced on Sunday with Congress general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia being among the early voters. Scindia, who is seeking a re-election from Guna seat, went early in the morning to exercise his democratic right at a booth in his constituency, after the polling began at 7 am. State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V L Kantha Rao and his wife were also among the early ones to cast their votes at the Char Imli booth in the state capital Bhopal. A poll volunteer allowed an around 80-year-old woman to jump the queue and cast the first vote at the Char Imli booth, where names of several VIPs are listed, Rao said. The CEO, who and his wife were the first two in the queue, praised the volunteer's gesture. "During mock poll conducted before the actual voting began, around 30 to 40 electronic voting machines (EVMs) were changed after some technical problems were found. Polling was going on peacefully in all the eight seats," Rao .

Brexit Party doubles UK European election poll lead

The newly-formed Brexit Party, which wants a clean break from the EU, has doubled its lead over other British parties in an opinion poll out Sunday on the European Parliament elections.
