Flood-like situation in parts of Rajasthan after heavy rain, schools shut

Heavy rains in Rajasthan have led to flood-like conditions in many districts, including Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Kota, Pali and Sirohi, a MeT department official said. Due to the overflowing rivers, gates of dams built on Chambal, Kalisindh and Banas river were opened. A private school bus with 35 children on board got stuck on the Keral River culvert in Sirohi. Meanwhile, two bike riders were swept away while crossing the bridge of Bedach river in Chittorgarh, police said. A flood-like situation occurred in Bhilwara's Bijolia area where a boat was seen rowing on flooded roads. Water overflowed up to 5 feet on the bridge of Eru river in Bhilwara. Due to heavy rains in Jhalawar, the situation has worsened in about half a dozen villages. Two arrested by Odisha CID for making fake website to dupe tourists in Puri

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Odisha Police has arrested two persons from Rajasthan for creating a fake website of a hotel to dupe tourists in Puri, officials said. The arrested persons have been identified as Aamir Khan (24) and Yusuf (27). Earlier, Anshuman Sharma, another accused person in the case, was arrested from Agra in Uttar Pradesh, the CID said in a statement issued on Monday. The arrests were made against a case registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the chief administrator of Jagannath Temple, Puri, it said. According to the police, the fraudsters had created a fake website and provided a mobile number to trap gullible people in the scam. They gave false assurance of accommodation at the hotel and provided mule bank accounts to transfer funds. However, the hotel's authority was completely unaware of the bookings and eventually received a lot of complaints, the CID said. JK Cement Q1FY26 results: Profit up 75.4% to Rs 324.25 cr; sales up 19.4%

JK Cement Ltd on Saturday reported a 75.4 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 324.25 crore for the June quarter of 2025-26 compared to Rs 184.82 crore in the April-June period a year ago. Its revenue from operations rose by 19.4 per cent to Rs 3,352.53 crore in the June quarter compared to Rs 2,807.57 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, according to a regulatory filing from JK Cement Ltd (JKCL). Total expenses were at Rs 2,919.83 crore, up 13.2 per cent in the June quarter. The total income of JKCL, which includes other income, was at Rs 3,408.97 crore, up 19.5 per cent in the June quarter. Meanwhile, in a separate filing, JKCL said its board in a meeting held on Saturday approved the company's expansion by setting up of 0.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) white cement-based wall putty plant near Nathdwara, District Rajasmand of Rajasthan. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President Jayant Chaudhary on Friday laid out the party's goal of strengthening its presence at the grassroots in Rajasthan, with particular focus on the youth. Dausa records highest rainfall in last 24 hrs as heavy rains lash Rajasthan

Monsoon continued to lash parts of Rajasthan, with Sikrai in Dausa district recording the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, a spokesperson from the state Meteorological Department said on Monday. According to the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, the highest rainfall of 132 mm was recorded in Sikrai (Dausa), while light to moderate and moderate to heavy rain occurred in some places. Very heavy rain was also recorded sporadically during the 24 hours until 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Rainfall may also occur in some parts of the Bikaner division, the MeT department added. Rajgarh in Alwar recorded 130 mm of rain, followed by Todabhim in Karauli (120 mm), Mahwa in Dausa (100 mm), and both Sallopat in Banswara and Viratnagar in Jaipur (70 mm each). Uttarakhand bus accident toll rises to 6, body of pilgrim found 150 km away

The body of another victim was retrieved from Uttarakhand's Haridwar district, 150 km away from the spot where a bus fell into Alaknanda river near Gholtir village here, officials said on Saturday. The death toll in the incident has now increased to six. The victim was identified as Lalit Kumar Soni (48), a resident of Pratap Chowk Gogunda, Rajasthan. A 31-seater bus taking pilgrims from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh to Badrinath fell into the Alaknanda river near Gholtir between Rudraprayag and Gauchar. Five bodies had been found till Saturday, officials here said. Six pilgrims are still missing. Search and rescue operations are underway, they added.

ACME Solar secures ₹1,072 cr refinancing for 250 MW project in Rajasthan

ACME Solar Holdings on Monday said it has secured a Rs 1,072-crore domestic project finance facility for its arm ACME Aklera Power Technology to refinance existing debt for its 250 MW operational project in Rajasthan. The project has an operational track record of 18 months and achieved an annual Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 29.3 per cent in FY25, a company statement said. ACME Solar Holdings has secured a domestic project finance facility of Rs 1,072 crore for its 100 per cent subsidiary ACME Aklera Power Technology Pvt Ltd to refinance existing debt and reduce financing cost by 95 basis points to 8.5 per cent per annum for its 250 MW operational project in Rajasthan, according to the statement. This refinancing of 18 years tenure has been secured from a consortium led by institutions, including Bank of America and Standard Chartered Bank, it stated.
