Retail chain Shoppers Stop Ltd on Thursday reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 22.72 crore in the June 2024 quarter, hit by subdued consumption due to prolonged heat waves, elections and inflation. The company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 14.49 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal, Shoppers Stop said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations in the quarter under review stood at Rs 1,069.31 crore as against Rs 993.61 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Total expenses were higher at Rs 1,104.51 crore in the first quarter compared to Rs 980.92 crore in the same period last fiscal, the company said. "The industry witnessed subdued consumption due to prolonged heat waves, elections, fewer weddings and inflation... Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (Ireda) on Friday reported over 30 per cent growth in its net profit to Rs 383.69 crore for the June quarter, mainly on the back of higher revenues. "IREDA has achieved Profit After Tax of Rs 383.69 crore (in Q1), marking an impressive year-on-year growth of 30.25 per cent," a company statement said. According to the statement, its net profit was Rs 294.58 crore in the quarter ended on June 30, 2023. As the largest pure-play green financing NBFC in the country, it stated that Ireda achieved a new industry standard by publishing its audited financial results within only 12 days. This milestone also marks Ireda as the first central public sector enterprise (CPSE) to promptly declare results and achieve the fastest publication of audited results in the banking and NBFC space, it added. PepsiCo reported higher-than-expected earnings in the second quarter even as customer demand for its snacks and drinks continued to slip. The Purchase, New York-based company said its net income rose 12% to $3 billion, or an adjusted $2.28 per share, for the April-June period. Wall Street had expected earnings of $2.16 per share. PepsiCo said its revenue grew less than 1% to $22.5 billion. That was slightly lower than the $22.59 analysts forecast. PepsiCo has leaned heavily into price increases over the past two years as its costs for ingredients and packaging rose. The fourth quarter of 2023 was the company's eighth straight quarter of double-digit percentage price increases. Prices rose 5% in the first quarter and 3% in the most recent quarter. Ramkrishna Forgings Ltd (RKFL) on Thursday reported a 31 per cent rise in standalone net profit to Rs 87.30 crore for the January-March quarter of 2023-24. Its net profit was at Rs 66.82 crore in the January-March period of 2022-23, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income rose by 6 per cent to Rs 886.16 crore in the fourth quarter of FY24 compared to Rs 835.40 crore in the year-ago quarter. For the full 2023-24 fiscal, the company posted a 38 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 326.07 crore compared to Rs 235.59 crore in FY23. Its total income rose to Rs 3,489.61 crore in FY24 from Rs 3,001 crore in FY23. EPC firm Tata Projects on Thursday reported a profit after tax of Rs 120.57 crore for the quarter ended March 31 on the back of higher revenues. The company had posted a loss of Rs 366.42 crore in the year-ago period, Tata Projects said in a statement. These figures are after after exceptional and/or extraordinary items. The company's revenue from operations increased to Rs 5,412.80 crore during the March quarter, over Rs 5,015.21 crore in the year-ago period, the statement said. Tata Projects MD & CEO Vinayak Pai said the company's strategic realignment, organisational transformation and improved focus on operational efficiencies have started yielding results. Air conditioner and commercial refrigeration system maker Blue Star Ltd on Thursday reported a 29 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 159.71 crore for the fourth quarter of 2023-24. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 225.29 crore in the January-March quarter of FY2022-23, a regulatory filing showed. Blue Star's total income increased to Rs 3,340.16 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 2,830.48 crore in the January-March period of the previous fiscal. Its total expenses were also higher at Rs 3,126.38 crore in the fourth quarter of 2023-24, compared with Rs 2,485.46 crore in the corresponding period last year.
