The glitches in the server lasted between 12.15 am and 1.45 am, leading to long queues at the immigration counters, putting the passengers into inconvenience. "There was some delay, due to technical snag, which resulted in slightly delayed clearance averaging 45 to 50 minutes at the immigration counters of the IGI airport, New Delhi on the night of April 28. "Normalcy returned within two hours and the system has been functioning smoothly since then," a home ministry spokesperson said Monday. Sources said the snag had taken place when the immigration network was being shifted to a new server. Hundreds of passengers had a harrowing time at Delhi airport early Monday due to the problems in the immigration system server affecting six international flights and resulting in long queues at the counters.
A suspected United Arab Emirates spy who was detained by Turkish authorities 10 days ago has committed suicide in prison, a Turkish government source and state media said on Monday. The suspect was found dead in Silivri prison, on the outskirts of Istanbul, state news agency Anadolu reported. A Turkish justice ministry source confirmed the report to AFP. At around 1 am, the official also said crew for three Air India flights were stuck and that no time line has been given by immigration authority to resolve the issue. A passenger, who was waiting for immigration check, said there has been a long delay due to server issues. A 28-year-old woman allegedly hacked her two minor children to death and then committed suicide by setting herself afire in Kokrajhar district of Assam, police said on Sunday. The incident took place at Besimari village under Fakiragram police station limits on Saturday night when the woman's husband, a house painter, was not at home. Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh said the woman, Sujata Das, killed her daughter Rimpa (9) and son Diganta (2) with a machete and then set herself on fire at her their residence.
