Malik's unbeaten fifty saves Pakistan from blushes against Afghanistan

Experienced Shoaib Malik conjured up a crucial unbeaten 51 under pressure as Pakistan survived a scare from Afghanistan, winning their Super Four match of the Asia Cup by three wickets, here on Friday. Chasing a competitive 258 to win, Pakistan overhauled the target with just three balls to spare with former captain Malik playing the match-winning knock from 43 balls. Pakistan required 10 runs from the last over and Malik dispatched pacer Aftab Alam for a six and four after playing a dot ball. India captain Rohit Sharma played another classy knock after comeback man Ravindra Jadeja picked up a four-wicket haul to set up a seven wicket win over Bangladesh in their opening Super Four match at the Asia Cup here on Friday. Vikram Singh converted a penalty in the dying minutes of the match to lead India to a 1-0 win over Vietnam in their opening match of the AFC Under-16 championship, here on Friday. Sajan Prakash and Srihari Nataraj continued to rule the roost as the two swimmers set national records on day three of the 72nd Glenmark Senior National Aquatic Championship here on Friday. Day three saw swimmers race for the top honours in nine categories including, seven individual and two team events with three national records being obliterated. In the men's 400m freestyle event, Sajan blitzed his way to the gold setting a national record by clocking a time of 3:54.93 seconds.
