Ben Stokes and Alex Hales have been charged with bringing the game into disrepute by the England and Wales Cricket Board following a late-night street brawl last year. The independent Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) was tasked with leading an internal investigation into the incident outside a nightclub in Bristol, southwest England, which took place in September 2017. Each player has been charged with two counts of breaching ECB directive 3.3, which states: "No participant may conduct themself in a manner or do any act or omission at any time which may be prejudicial to the interests of cricket or which may bring the ECB, the game of cricket or any cricketer or group of cricketers into disrepute." Brazillian footballer Dani Alves said that contrary to popular opinion, Real Madrid are "more of a team" without Cristiano Ronaldo. The comment came ahead of the UEFA Champions League, where Real Madrid would be eying their fourth consecutive European title."It's not going to be so easy against Madrid. I think that, contrary to what everybody else says, Madrid are more of a team without Cristiano, and now it's a little more difficult than it was before - at least because of how I see football and my concept of this game. Though it's obvious that him leaving is a brutal loss, Madrid are Madrid," Marca.com quoted Alves, as saying. The Paris Saint-Germain defender further suggested that for his side to win the Champions League, they just need to try different things."To achieve the goal that this club wants is not so complicated. But you need different things, to do different things, a different spirit, have a different mentality. This year I have a good feeling, things are improving here .

Shikhar Dhawan struck a hundred in familiar surroundings of white ball cricket on a flat deck as India scored 285 for seven against Hong Kong in their Asia Cup group league opener on Tuesday. Left-handed Dhawan, who had a horrendous tour to England due to serious technical deficiency on seaming tracks, cashed in on the chance against a weaker opposition on a low and slow continental pitch, smashing 127 off 120 balls. Dhawan hit as many as 15 boundaries and two sixes en route his 14th ODI century but the slowness of the track meant that India failed to cross the 300-run mark against the minnows. Together with comeback man Ambati Rayudu (60), Dhawan stitched 116 runs for the second wicket off 130 deliveries, to lay the foundation for India's total after the early dismissal of skipper Rohit Sharma (23). Sent into bat India lost Rohit with the scoreboard reading 45 in 7.4 overs but then Dhawan and Rayudu joined hands and shared a century stand during their chanceless knocks. Returning to .

On the eve of India-Pakistan clash in the ongoing Asia Cup, former pacer Zaheer Khan has said veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni should bat at the crucial No. 4 position given his vast experience. The former left-arm speedster also felt that the hundred struck by K L Rahul in the last and the fifth Test against England last week will bolster his confidence in the continental showpiece being held in the UAE. "At No. 4, I do feel someone like MS Dhoni needs to give a go ahead because keeping the World Cup in mind, it's a very crucial position to soak in pressure and play according to the situation," Zaheer, a Star Sports Select Dugout expert, said in a statement Tuesday. "So far, the Indian team has been winning matches when they have had a great start, but in situations where they do not have a good start, experience is required to control the situation," noted the 39-year-old, a veteran of 92 Tests and 200 one day internationals. Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed Tuesday expressed his displeasure at the Indian team playing all its Asia Cup matches in Dubai while the others are being made to shuttle between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. India were to play two matches in Abu Dhabi but the schedule was tweaked to allow Rohit Sharma's men to play all their matches in Dubai. Asked about the scheduling being skewed in India's favour, Sarfraz said: "If you look at the schedule, even if India lose pool match, they still play in Dubai. Travelling is an issue. If you have to travel 90 minutes and then play matches with a gap of a single day, then it is challenging. "I believe it should have been same for all the teams, irrespective of whether it is India or Pakistan. I don't know what was Asian Cricket Council's thought behind this. I think PCB is looking into the matter," said Sarfraz. It is learnt that the BCCI, which is hosting the tournament, decided against the shuttling of venues keeping the commercial conditions in ...

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed Tuesday said he is concerned at the wicket-less spell of his strike bowler Mohammad Aamir, as his side geared up to take on arch-rivals India in the Asia Cup. Left-arm pacer Aamir has not been amongst the wickets in recent times and his skipper was asked about it in the pre-match press conference. "I am concerned but I don't think wickets itself are a reflection of performance. Take for example, India pacer (Mohammad) Shami's case in England. He bowled well but couldn't get wickets. I have spoken to him (Aamir) and told him that he is our strike bowler and has to pick wickets too. Hope he does that tomorrow," Sarfraz told reporters. Sarfraz was also asked about Virat Kohli's absence but he felt that India may not miss their captain in these conditions. "As a team not to have your regular captain is a factor. There could be a difference in the frame of mind. But they have enough players who have done well for them, and the conditions are also the same for
Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has backed right-hand batsman Aaron Finch for the opener's role ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan.Ponting believes that though Finch is yet to make his Test debut, the batsman's outstanding numbers in other formats of the game shows his potential as an opener."Although his (Finch's) red-ball numbers aren't outstanding, he has been in real good form in other formats of the game all around the world for the last few years. The conditions in that part of the world in the UAE, I don't think the new ball should do too much," Cricket.com.au quoted Finch, as saying."It will probably be more like starting an innings against the white ball, which Finchy is very very good at," he added.Reflecting on the suitable candidate for the post of the vice-captain in the Test series against Pakistan, Ponting said that batting all-rounder Mitchell Marsh fits perfectly as he did an outstanding job while leading Western Australia, last ...
