PM congratulates Asiad medal winners, asks them to work harder for Olympic glory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday congratulated India's medal-winners in the recently-concluded Asian Games and asked them to strive harder in tougher competitions like the Olympic Games. Complimenting the athletes during an interaction at his residence, the Prime Minister said their exemplary performance has raised India's stature and pride. India won a record medal haul at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, by bagging 69 medals, beating the previous best of 65 won at the Guangzhou Asiad in 2010. "The PM expressed hope that the medal winners will remain grounded and would not lose focus due to fame and accolades," read a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office. Ashish Nehra appointed RCB Coach for new season

Ashish Nehra, current bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has been confirmed as coach and will be part of the coaching leadership team along with Gary Kirsten. Dharun eyes medal at Asian Championships

Brimming with confidence after winning a silver at the Asian Games, India's 400m hurdler Dharun Ayyasamy has set his eyes on winning a medal at the Asian Championships next year. "My next immediate target is to win a medal at Asian championship. I don't know what medal it would be but I'm confident of returning with a medal. Domestic Cricket: Bihar CA suspends Aditya Verma's son for two years

The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has handed a two-year suspension to original IPL petitioner Aditya Verma's son Lakhan Raja for alleged participation in an unsanctioned tournament as well as a corporate tournament, without prior approval. Lakhan had sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play for another state but the BCCI has also decided against issuing it to the player. Verma alleged that Bihar CA secretary Rabi Shankar Prasad has made his son a "scapegoat" due to their bitter rivalry. Verma is the secretary of the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) while BCCI has recognised the Bihar CA as the parent body of state cricket. "My son played in Hyderabad Cricket League for India Cements and suddenly he was handed a suspension letter that he did not seek prior approval of Bihar CA.
