Stokes has been punished enough, says Vaughan

England all-rounder Ben Stokes should be welcomed back into the Test team after being cleared of affray today, said former national captain Michael Vaughan. Vaughan, who has forged a successful career as a pundit since retiring from the crease, said the 27-year-old New Zealand-born star had been punished enough over the 11 months since a late-night excursion in Bristol following a one-day win over the West Indies led to him being charged with affray. However, Stokes and team-mate Alex Hales -- who was with him when the fracas occurred -- is likely to face a charge of disrepute by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) which will be heard by the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) chaired by Tim O'Gorman, a former Derbyshire batsman and qualified solicitor. The 37-year-old Spaniard -- who has 32 Grand Prix wins to his credit in 17 seasons -- has become increasingly disenchanted with Formula One as the once all-powerful McLaren team have fallen way off the pace. Alonso went on to drive for McLaren for a year in 2007 followed by a return to Renault and then four years at Ferrari, before beginning his second spell with McLaren in 2015. "I have seen you (Formula One) changing, sometimes for good, others, in my opinion, for bad," said Alonso, who on three occasions finished runner-up in the drivers' championship while at Ferrari. "And this year, ...

We'll know how good we are at Asiad: Nieva

Indian boxers will know their global standing from their Asian Games show, High Performance Director Santiago Nieva said today and reckoned the draw could play a crucial role in how well the pugilists perform in Jakarta. Seven men and three women pugilists were given an official send-off by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and Sports India ahead of their flight for Jakarta tomorrow. "Now we will know how good we are. This will be the test and we will know where we stand because some really strong countries will be there," Nieva told PTI. The boxers had accounted for five medals -- one gold and four bronze -- in the 2014 edition in Incheon, South Korea. This was way lower than their best ever performance which came in 2010, when the boxers bagged 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals in all. "The draw is going to be big and it will be certainly a factor. But we have grown enough to ensure that it is not as big a factor. But this is not going to be that easy," he said. "We will know .
